Publisher's Summary
The Five People You Meet in Heaven: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience! *
Eddie is a wounded war veteran, an old man who has lived, in his mind, an uninspired life. His job is fixing rides at a seaside amusement park. On his 83rd birthday, a tragic accident kills him as he tries to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakes in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a destination; it's a place where your life is explained to you by five people, some of whom you knew, others who may have been strangers. One by one, from childhood to soldier to old age, Eddie's five people revisit their connections to him on earth, illuminating the mysteries of his "meaningless" life, and revealing the haunting secret behind the eternal question: "Why was I here?"
*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Wonderful story
Not only was the story amazing, but I just want to highlight how great the overall production of this audiobook was. From the soft melodies of the piano playing in the background, to set the mood for the start of the chapter or occuring spontaneously throughout, to the brilliant voice acting of the narrator, I really enjoyed the addition of these things.
I love when authors narrate their own books, and listening to Mitch Albom read, applying his own accents and emphasis on certain parts, made the story much more enriched and marvelous to listen to.
Thank you, and I highly recommend this audiobook.

I’m not surprised that I loved this book as much as I did. Mitch is a brilliant writer. I found myself on the verge of tears at certain points. I really got the message. This book was beautifully written, and I highly recommend.

Music track a distraction rather than enhancement
I picked this title as I needed a break from the fantasy genre that I'd listened to for the last few months. Having good reviews and ratings from bestseller lists, I was ready for a nice, gentle listen.
For the most part, that is just what this is - the story line has enough tension and drama in it to keep interest and the characters are both flawed and likable. A few surprises as to who shows up as the main character's heavenly encounters kept me listening.
I gave the performance two stars, not for the actual narration (which was by the author himself), but for the distracting music background. This seems to be a new addition for the Audible productions and I found not only did it not enhance the experience, but I will sort my future selections with this in mind. Reading, or listening, to a written piece needs to engage the imagination and the music track detracts from that.

Simply amazing
I’ve read this book in the past, loved it. But hearing it read by Mitch, his tones, voice change for Eddie & listening to it the way he intended for it to be read.. I binged and listens to the whole thing. Love love love this story- just finished it & already have, “the next person you meet in heaven,” downloaded to listen to!!

A "Ghost of Christmas" feel
Always interesting to explore what we see in our life compared to how the same circumstances appear and are experienced by others. Likeable flawed characters and insight into how we all are connected.

I was completely drawn in!
This was a very pleasant book to listen too. I was completely drawn into the narrative. I recommend this book to many family and friends, as someone recommended it to me. I just bought the book for my Dad for Father's Day. I hope anyone who listens to this book will enjoy it just as much as I did.

A Sweet Story
After reading/listening to Tuesday’s with Morrie, I went straight to this story. I enjoyed it but not near as much as Tuesday’s with Morrie. The end of the book was definitely a tear-jerker. It makes us all think of our own life and interactions with others.
