Former infantryman Eugene and his wife Angie leave home to live with their daughter in The Fortress, a community with a constant rotation of armed guards and a curfew for the vulnerable or those not on patrol.
Messengers from the military have disappeared, so mail carriers deliver the latest news and rumors, which can only be described as dire.
To keep the figurative bricks of The Fortress fortified, Eugene and Angie must venture beyond its protection one final time to ensure that their daughter and her unborn child remain safe.
Their old neighborhood houses a legacy worth fighting for, but given the state of the human race, mysterious creatures spawning out of nowhere isn’t what worries Eugene most.
