Publisher's Summary

Why, despite the many advances in science and technology over the past few decades, does our health only seem to be getting worse? Why, despite so much time and energy spent studying the foods we eat, are we more confused than ever about nutrition - what good nutrition looks like, and what it can do for our health?

Colin Campbell’s first book, The China Study - with 3 million copies sold (and growing!) - laid out the exhaustive evidence for the whole foods, plant-based diet as the healthiest way to eat. His New York Times best-selling follow-up, Whole, addressed the widespread scientific emphasis on reductionism that has kept our focus on the discrete behaviors of individual vitamins and nutrients in the foods we eat, rather than diet’s synergistic effects on health.

Now, in The Future of Nutrition: An Insider’s Look at the Science, Why We Keep Getting It Wrong, and How to Start Getting It Right, Campbell takes on the institution of nutrition itself: the history of how we got locked in to focusing on “disease care” over health care; the widespread impact of our reverence of animal protein on our interpretation of scientific evidence; the way even well-meaning organizations can limit what science is and is not taken seriously; and what we can do to ensure the future of nutrition is different than its past.

The Future of Nutrition offers a fascinating deep-dive behind the curtain of the field of nutrition - with implications both for our health and for the practice of science itself.

His problem is the problem he has with others

This book was extremely disappointing for a couple reasons. With his wealth of experience and background, I expected more data and more honest interpretation of data he too often put words into researchers mouth by over analyzing certain words to force a false emphasis and skew meanings. It waters down his point. The second disappointment is that he condemns the nutrition field because of personal, not science based, attacks. Every few minutes he then salvos several of his own personal based attacks at anyone who has ever “wronged” him by disagreeing or even just not putting as much emphasis as he did on plant based nutrition.

If you are a full fledged plant based zealot, look no further. This will be your new bible. If you are looking for a rational, fact based evaluation of a potentially useful diet, this book falls woefully short. It was brutal to get through and I would have quit if I was not determined to see another view.

Fantastic Review of Past & Current State of Nutrition

Thank you T. Colin Campbell for research! So much written in this book is a review of past volumes but pulls everything together in a way that I can both process and recite easily to my family and friends. The information is read beautifully by the narrator. I will most definitely read this one again.

Not for Colin Campbell Readers

This might be be interesting to a first time Colin Campbell listener/reader. However, it is extremely repetitive to anyone who has read Dr. Campbell’s other works. For those who have not read his prior books, I’d suggest starting with The China Study.

A Must Read, Excellent Discussion of the Science

The role of conflicting interests in determining nutrition recommendations is clearly exposed in this intelligent and concise discussion of research in the past century.
A brilliant discussion that will point you in the right direction to make intelligent decisions based on good science.

Transparency in nutrition

Love this book. Read all of his work, beginning with , ‘The China Study’. His experience and communication is direct and succinct, backed with peer review and years of testing. I have been vegan for eight years, wfpb for almost two, thanks to his and other similar authors he referenced. My health is better than ever. I no longer suffer from the extremes of fibromyalgia that I used to. My energy and clarity are back. Anyone and everyone, I believe will benefit from this material!

A must-read in nutrition

This is a most interesting discussion of past and present research and understanding of nutrition - carried out amid an ever growing influence and threat of corporate influence. Dr Campbell is humble and not physically large - but he has been a giant, fighting for truth in nutrition and everyone's best health.

Another Great

Another great book! Plant based diets are the future! Thank you T Colin Campbell! You may have save my life back in 2012 from a possible cancer diagnosis. The switch to a whole plant diet caused my blood platelets to raise significantly and stabilize in the healthy range. Thank you!

Timely AND Essential!

Mr Campbell has done it again!
This is the fourth book I’ve read by him and I cannot speak highly enough. If you are seeking truth, honesty and clarity about food, diet, and nutrition, look no further. This is the priceless pearl. In addition to that, his perspective on “Wholeness”, as it were, is refreshing, pertinent and timely.

Thank you Mr. Campbell for this book and all your work over the years. It has quite literally changed my life and that of my family🙏🏽
