Publisher's Summary

In The Gift of Battle, Thor meets his greatest and final challenge as he quests deeper into the Land of Blood to attempt to rescue Guwayne. Encountering foes more powerful than he ever imagined, Thor soon realizes he is up against an army of darkness, one for which his powers are no match. When he learns a sacred object may give him the powers he needs - an object which has been kept secret for ages - he must embark on a final quest to retrieve it before it is too late, with the fate of the Ring hanging in the balance.

Gwendolyn keeps her vow to the King of the Ridge, entering the tower and confronting the cult leader to learn what secret he is hiding. The revelation sends her to Argon, and ultimately to Argon's master - where she learns the greatest secret of all, one which may alter the destiny of her people. When the Ridge is discovered by the Empire, the invasion begins and, under attack by the greatest army known to man, it falls on Gwendolyn to defend, and to lead her people on one final, mass exodus.

Thor's Legion brothers, on their own, face unimaginable risks, as Angel is dying from her leprosy. Darius fights for his life beside his father in the Empire capital, until a surprise twist prods him, with nothing left to lose, to finally tap his own powers. Erec and Alistair reach Volusia, battling their way upriver, and they continue on their quest for Gwendolyn and the exiles, as they face unexpected battles. And Godfrey realizes that he must ultimately make a decision to be the man he wants to be.

Volusia, surrounded by all the power of the Knights of the Seven, must put herself to the test as goddess and discover if she alone has the power to crush men and rule the Empire. While Argon, faced with his end of days, realizes the time has come to sacrifice himself.

As good and evil hang in the balance, one final, epic battle - the greatest battle of all - will determine the outcome of the Ring for all time.

With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, The Gift of Battle is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition, and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders.

What long story.

This was a long epic keeping you in suspense. Worry for the goods people and wanting to hear from the bad. This was well done. Morgan Rice is great story teller.

Just don't. believe me, spent $200 on whole series

First and foremost, I've never EVER left a bad review and I have read hundreds of titles. This series is bad enough for me to break that. Secondly, since I spent $200 on the whole series and gave it a fighting chance, start to finish, I'm entitled to my opinion and hope I can warn someone from making my mistake. I try to be fair and respect every authors time, energy, emotional investment, and literary style- this one.. I'm sorry, I have to speak up. It's annoyingly inconsistent and some things don't make sense. For instance, it's set in a fantasy world, not earth, and in some time frame of magic and swords- so how did he "spin on a dime". What's a modern American currency reference doing in this setting? The champion knight (on his wedding day) was stabbed once through the chest by an assassin as his bride to be watched before the assassin fled; literally opening sentence of next book something to the effect of Alistair stared in horror at her beloved "riddled with holes"... um I thought he was stabbed once, where did we suddenly get "riddled with holes"? Does the author even read what they write? How did the editor, assuming there is one (and I have my doubts considering there's more flaws than I can list riddled throughout EVERY book), not catch this? Story line is pretty generic- bad guys always loose, good guys never die or if they do they always come back to life, every arrow and sword thrust always hits its mark perfectly the first time... it's just painful to read. Promise you I'm not being over critical- read about 2 books, if you must, and you'll see exactly what I mean. I don't expect every author to be a Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, Robin Hobb, Brian D. Anderson, Terry Mancour, Kel Kade, Joe Abercrombie, or Mark Lawrence, but damn, give me something better than this for $200 please! It's like a middle schooler wrote it!

Addictive. A guide for humanity.

Occasionally repetitive yet impossible to walk away from. An inspiring message to never give up, family's aren't perfect but love is more powerful than us flawed humans.

worth while series

I listened to all 17 books and enjoyed them. the author repeats herself a lot which is a little weird but you can over look it. the last book was rushed to close out the series. they left some storylines incomplete but overall worth reading. I enjoy seeing thorgin grow up and the characters are all satisfying.
