Adored!!! Must Read
I adored this story. The characters are well thought out and developed. It allows the reader to gain an insight into Ireland's potato famine and the loss so many experienced. Really touching. I'd listen again multiple times and have considered purchasing a hard copy of this book. Avena does a great job with intination and emotion and accents 💕

Wonderful story but incredibly sad
Another fabulous story by Kathleen McGurl. I really loved this story and was so drawn in to the characters. I learned so much about the Potato Famine in Ireland. I had heard of it but knew so,little. This book was a real lesson for me. I thought the relationship between Maria and Dan was a bit prolonged and repetitive thus the lower rate for the story. But that wasn’t any sort of drawback at all. I love this authors stories. Just have a couple more to go. Would highly recommend this book but keep the tissue handy!

Light historical fiction featuring 1840's Ireland
We enjoy historical fiction and this one was pretty good.
Overall I would give it a 3.5 if possible.
What it did well :
Nice job of putting you there in Ireland both current and past
We liked characters, the story and were hoping it worked out for them
Where is was soft:
Plot was pretty weak and had some holes that prevented you from buying into all the way
The characters, while likeable , were not very deep.
Part that got a little annoying :
Main character's self obsession was a little annoying at times, but just a little
Will actually do another by this author and hope for a little more depth, but will settle if it is as good as this one.
Did a nice job of amusing us for our 7 hour drive
