When Wang Lung shows mercy to one noble and is rewarded, he begins to rise in the world, even as the House of Hwang falls.

Superb Narration
Of all the books on Audible I’ve listened to Anthony Heald is by far my favourite narrator. He is a pleasure to listen to. This book is a classic and his narration is superb!

Excellent narration!
Probably THE single best performance I’ve heard on Audible. Absolutely excellent. And of course, classic Pearl Buck. An excellent read!

Classic Tale
I hadn't read this since high school and I had forgotten the story. It was a pleasure to hear the story again. The characters are complex and it really reflects a time in Chinese history.
Very enjoyable listen.
