Publisher's Summary

Let the world's funniest sportsman tickle your funny bone with quirky homespun stories and whimsical perspectives on life. Patrick F. McManus gently pokes fun at the oddities of sacred institutions like friendship, marriage, and even hunting and fishing. Soon his crazy theories start making sense, and you know you've crossed the border into McManus country, where life is a little lighter - and much more amusing. McManus initiates you into his world with intimate tales of cub scout pranks, high-school football rituals, and other rites of passage. He conveys an appealing sense of old-fashioned innocence that allows you to see the humor in modern life.

Narrator Norman Dietz's comic genius brings out the full flavor of McManus' unique style. With Dietz's narration, you'll feel you're sitting in a patio chair, with a can of "beverage" and box of cigars, swapping stories with a buddy.

No Outdoors Experience Necessary

In The Good Samaritan Strikes Again, I was delighted to find McManus' choice of situations was far more universal than expected. You don't need to be male or a hunter/fisherman to identify with or appreciate these stories.
Overwhelming numbers of worries, daydreams that get out of control, bad advice from pals are some of these situations. Who hasn't wanted to seek the perfect revenge on a workplace tyrant ? Ever had an attempt to do a good deed backfire or a great idea end by going very wrong ?
Then you can relax and feel right at home in the McManus world : a place where we see the farce in so many situations that seem hopelessly negative.
This collection of short stories is truly a
# Audible1 in my book.

Very funny!

A really funny collection of essays. One can identify with most of the stories for they are human stories.
I will definitely read/listen to more of McManus’s books.

Great narration by Norman Dietz.

Innocently Hilarious. I loved every minute.

I do not read comedy books. Ever. I've never read (or listened) to anything like this.

But let me tell you that I laughed and laughed and laughed. Not belly laughs, but laughs that genuinely put a smile on my face and lifted my spirits.

The book includes multiple short recounts of simple events encountered by an old farmer (or country man). I love how he responds to his "worries" , and plays off every event like it was some kind of extremely life changing experience, when in reality they were miniscule and unimportant.

His exaggerations are well placed and excecuted.

I loved this book.
I highly recommend it if you're feeling a little blue and need a pick me up.
