Publisher's Summary

A lazy and wussy ex-gamer, Phil becomes one of the few humans who receive a mysterious alien piece of wetware that allows them to see the world through an augmented-reality interface very similar to those used in an MMORPG game. Guided by its stats and messages, Phil begins to level up, gradually transforming himself and his life. He even opens his own business in order to help his friends and complete strangers who acquire a newfound respect for him, assisting him in his travails.

As Phil continues on the road to self-improvement, guided by his own conscience rather than system messages, he tries to find out more about the mysterious third party that has bestowed such superhuman abilities upon him.

Underrated but not outdone.

The author, translator, and narrator make a pretty decent combination. This volume saw massive improvements to the MC's character development, both intellectually and physically. There were one or two obviously terrible decisions, but not enough to derail the series' overall value and rating.
To be honest, I'm quite surprised to find this in the "Plus Catalogue". After listening to so many novels with immature, reckless, and just plainly terrible MCs, I would think that a novel like this would be welcomed in the LitRPG category. People want to see brain-dead MCs with the mentality of 8 year olds whilst being in their twenties going on the age-old epic adventures I guess 🤷‍♂️. Not to mention the sheer amount of unadulterated sex proliferating this platform...
Anyway, I think this novel is just way too underrated.
