À propos de cet audio
Prince Allen has trained his entire life to follow in the footsteps of his illustrious mother, who has made their kingdom one of the wealthiest and most influential in the empire. For the past few years he has trained to become the new consort of the High King. The only thing no one prepared him for was the stubborn, arrogant High King himself, who declares Allen useless and throws him out of court.
High King Sarrica is ruling an empire at war, and that war will grow exponentially worse if his carefully laid plans do not come to fruition. He's overwhelmed and needs help, as much as he hates to admit it, but it must be someone like his late consort: a soldier, someone who understands war, who is not unfamiliar with or afraid of the harsher elements of rule. What he doesn't need is the delicate, pretty little politician foisted on him right as everything goes wrong.
©2015 Megan Derr (P)2017 Less Than Three Press, LLCI love Allen’s language skills and his ability to get along with just about anyone. It was so sweet to see him actually make friends and learn a different way to interact and react than what he’d been taught. Both he and Sarrica do some dumb things, but they’re for understandable reasons. I enjoyed watching Sarrica come to realise just how much he valued Allen and his skills when he’d first thought they were useless. The two of them make an excellent team.
The side characters were great, and I’m looking forward to a few of them getting their HEAs later in the series.
Intrigue, languages, foot-in-mouth syndrome, and awesome found family

The narrator unfortunately doesn’t differentiate much between voices, or if he does he has trouble keeping them separate. He mispronounces words and there is some awkward phrasing that could have done with another take or two but it’s not so bad that I’d rather just read the book myself.
Compelling story, mid narrator
