Publisher's Summary

"This impeccably well-wrought fable proves what many of us have known for quite some time: Mark Matthews is the reigning king of modern psychological horror." (Kealan Patrick Burke, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Kin)

Kori Persephone Driscoe suffered through her dad's mental illness. All she wanted was for him to get better, but instead, he disappeared. Kori trespasses into the abandoned Northville Psychiatric Hospital, the last place her dad was treated, seeking solace and traces of his memory. What she finds instead is something no longer human living deep in the underground tunnels.

During the last days of the hospital, a rogue psychiatrist had been manipulating the mood swings of the mentally ill, transforming patients into savage, manic creatures who seek justice by the light of the full moon. When the creatures hunt for prey, only an escaped patient and her beloved child can help Kori survive - but they better act fast, because the creatures want blood, Kori wants to save her dad, and the whole hospital is about to be blown to pieces and bury Kori alive.

"A powerful, compelling story. Hard to put down and impossible to forget" (Midwest Book Review)

An astonishing piece of horror fiction that is she

A young woman named Kori Driscoe lived a traumatic childhood, suffering the mental anguish of her father. After years, her family's suffering came to an end when her father's illness hit it's peak and he vanished without a trace. Now, Lori finds herself searching the abandoned psychiatric hospital where he was last seen and discovers the remnants of a man that is no longer of this world. He has changed into something monstrous and the secrets that lay deep within Northville Psychiatric will forever haunt those who surround its crumbling walls.

THE HOBGOBLIN OF LITTLE MINDS is an astonishing piece of horror fiction that is sheer brilliance. Mark Matthews might be an actual genius at work. His poetic prose and visceral storytelling work together in a grisly harmony that is unforgettable. At first glance, this might appear to be a creature-feature of sorts and although that might be true in a sense, what really terrorizes the characters in this book is mental illness. Matthews delves deeply into the minds of those living with bipolar disorder and depression which quickly overshadows any ravenous monstrosity that could lurk within it's pages.
