Publisher's Summary

The Kennedys have always been a family of charismatic adventurers, raised to take risks and excel, living by the dual family mottos: "To whom much is given, much is expected" and "Win at all costs." And they do - but at a price.

Across decades and generations, the Kennedys have occupied a unique place in the American imagination: charmed, cursed, at once familiar and unknowable. The House of Kennedy is a revealing, fascinating account of America's most storied family, as told by America's most trusted storyteller.

What the critics say

"When I wrote my first novel after several nonfiction works about politics, James Patterson lovingly lambasted me for infringing on his thriller territory. Now I know how he feels as he crosses into political nonfiction with this juicy and entertaining look at a family that continues to wield power and influence. He's too good - it isn't fair!" (Jake Tapper, CNN anchor and author of The Hellfire Club)

Not the best Kennedy book I've ever read

I love reading about the Kennedy's so I was excited for this one! However, I found it really hard to follow, as the stories of the different Kennedy's jumped around alot.

Nothing New

If you've read more than one of the massive number of Kennedy biographies, you won't find anything new in this book. The book flow is ok the narration is good. I could have done without the music between chapters. Which is why the audio version ratings, overall and performance get 4 stars .. picky I know.

Great Story.... but.....

Interested story. I like how the author sorta skipped around to make everyone’s story was told. I only have 2 complaints: 1) The narrator sound very robotic. 2) The music that’s played between every chapter is a little annoying. I know it’s only like 5 to 8 seconds of music but each time it drove me crazy!

Very complete but few surprises

This is a well organized rehashing of well documented stories much better told by less anodyne writers. The narrator has a worshipful tone to his voice. Very little new information or insight here. A lot of dirty laundry. The reader is looking for something or some perspective on this amazing family that shines new light. The Kennedy women get very short shrift. Coulda Should been better from such a famous author.

Not Much New

...but a Kennedyphile doesn’t really mind that. The most ANNOYING thing is the music before each chapter. Also the reader is too nasal and singsong.

Gossip-y story of the Kennedys

Interesting book focused on the scandals and the tragedies. A page-turner, not supposed to be a masterpiece. Pittu's narration was clear, but his mimicking of women made them sound quite stupid. Also his pronunciation of foreign words was off half of the time.

Confusing timeline

Since I feel that I am a very logical person, this book was very confusing. The author kept jumping from the 60s to the 30s and back and forth. There are too many Kennedys with the same name. Like I said it was very confusing.
