About this listen
Emmy Award-winning actress Tatiana Maslany narrates a brand-new special edition recording of the first audiobook in the worldwide best-selling trilogy from Suzanne Collins!
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Still, if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
This special edition audiobook includes a bonus track Q&A with Tatiana Maslany!

Featured Article: The Best Young Adult Audiobooks For Women Of All Ages
Many people equate "growing up" with "growing serious." But while interests may change over time, age does not have to be the deciding factor in what games you play, movies, or books you enjoy. Young adult novels are the perfect example of this. Though written with a teenage audience in mind, women of all ages are sure to enjoy the genre’s hallmarks: strong yet flawed characters, heartbreaking twists and turns, romance, and drama.

Love it!
This is one of the first audiobooks I listened to, and it drew me in just as quickly this time as it did five years ago. The narrator is perfect. The story is well know. Exceptionally well presented.

Great voice over, bad singing.
This is my first audio book and it made me fall in love with audio books. The voiceover is nothing but perfect but the singing part when **u die is super cringe, had to skip it. But other than that this is the perfect Katniss voiceover.

Tatiana Maslany has the Sexiest voice
So entertaining, . And I Love listening to a woman narrator , with such a Sexy voice. This, book is so much better than the shitty movie .Although this series is aimed at a young adults(teenagers) demographic and that's is not me it is still worth a credit.

Great story, one awkward pronunciation
overall, I loved the story. like many others, I have seen the movie adaptation, and now get to appreciate the way they were able emphasize certain looks and behaviour in many of the characters. I think the book holds its own incredibly well even now, and is actually able to describe some events in better detail and tell more of Mr. Everdeen.
My one gripe (I can always find one) was the pronunciation of mutation... it actually led me to wonder if it is, in fact, spelt "mutt-ation" in the book. That would seem a very odd choice though, only explicable by the centuries since current-day civilization, though it would be the only real evolution of the English language.
Again, this was a great story; a very emotional performance with good pacing, and in case you're wondering, it's well worth the listen if you can set aside the time.

I don't love the narration
I don't need to say it's a good book, the title speaks for itself. But I do wish there was a different narrator for such a long series, Her Katniss is good, and the way she mimics true inner monologue. especially when Katniss is in distress. is good, I would even say great. However, all of her other characters voices, except maybe Effie, are distractingly unpleasant. Her Rue especially made me cringe. Rue sounds like a kindergartener that's FREEZING. The quiver in her baby voice was so distracting. I desperately wanted to love Rue like Katniss does just to feel what the author intended, but I reached a point where I longed for the moment when I wouldn't have to listen to her anymore.
