very inspiring!

Irina (author and narrator) touches in many points which I could relate to. Sometimes I feel that since I had to immigrate to a new country as a teen, I had no time to grieve what was left behind. Often I wonder how that experience might have adversely affected me. However, in her kind and wise tone, Irina reminds us that it's never too late to embrace our roots but also reminds us that change makes (not breaks) us. That it's ok if we have had to say goodbye with a part of the past as long as it has no meaning for us. We are products of our history, both before and after the change, and we are free to build the life that had meaning to our individual self, without feeling guilty. This us how we become truly fulfilled.
This book made me cry so much it gave validation of my experience. This is a topic not many people discuss. It made me realize I still had homesickness deep down after 35 years of living in a new country and riding off the effects of being an immigrant.
