I was hooked by Rule's story and got the Book Set to read the others. It's heartbreaking how family toxicity defines one's decisions and actions in life. Even though there are tropes, the characters are dynamic, flawed, good people who don't realize their own value. Shaw is the definite heroine in the first series even though in my opinion, she goes through hell. The stories are spicy, emotionally wrenching, and have the reader/listener cheering for them. I read along as I listened to the stories. I did speed up the narrators though. I had to pause and walk away a few times just to process. Absolutely recommend the listen!
