Publisher's Summary
John Wesley was an 18th-century preacher, theologian, and cleric who helped found the Methodist movement with his brother, Charles. Arguably one of the most important Christian voices of his day, Wesley wrote in his journal on a daily basis, capturing his views, thoughts, feelings, and prayers on paper to share with the world. The journal contains 50 years' worth of this great man's reflections and experiences and is widely considered one of the great spiritual classics.

What an amazing man of God!
Listening to Wesley’s Journal has moved me deeply. What an amazing man of God! I only had a very basic knowledge of John Wesley and I was absolutely blown away by his perseverance and diligence in his calling. Nothing stopped him and God protected him all the way. I’ve been challenged and encouraged by Wesley's example. I'm also a bit of a history geek, and some of the historical details and Wesley's comments on current events were interesting to me. I highly recommend this audio book not only for the inspiration but also that the reader, Derek Perkins, has done a marvelous job in conveying Wesley’s thoughts in spoken word.

Not full journal
Indeed this is not the full journal and much is skipped. However, it still contains hours and hours of John Wesley's journal.
The narrator does a remarkable job reading it; he voice is clear, his pace is just right, and his style lively yet not distracting.
This is fantastic!

A Journal, Not a Story
If you are interested in the life of this man, these journal entries provide some insight into his beliefs, thoughts and life experiences. It is a plodding but rewarding venture. John Wesley’s impact on both sides of the pond has been instrumental in many people of the Christian faith. If only I had his discipline.

Wonderful listen!
John Wesley was a remarkable man. He cared so much for the people of Britain that he traveled thousands of miles every year on horseback to share the love of Jesus Christ with them. He continued even into his eighties when most would’ve retired. Thousands found forgiveness of sin from God as a result of his efforts. In addition to the religious side of the book, it’s also a great way to learn more about the history of the British working class of the 1700s. Fascinating listen!

"O LORD, Thou preservest man and beast"
I listened to this book for the purpose of learning more about John Wesley, and I was not disappointed. From these writings, I heard Wesley's faith grow and could see the incredible providences that marked his long life and protected him throughout. This version of the journal is cut down by 3/4 but still very extensive. The narration style by Derek Perkins seems perfect for this type of work.

I learned a lot.
Times have changed but the gospel has
not, nether have the needs of the people. This book is such a good example of how the spirit can touch even the most rebellious people.

Intimate History
I thoroughly enjoyed this insight into John Wesley's life. As the introduction states, and I'm paraphrasing, Wesley gives us an accurate account of 18th century Great Britian, while Wesley's anecdotes provide us with insights into the man and his exceptional life.
