Fulfillment and Joy Through the Realization of Our Essential Identity

When challenges arise in your life, what happens inside of you? For many of us, the larger the problem, the more we resist, contract, and react unconsciously. On the other hand, explains Eckhart Tolle, in any given moment we have the chance to remain open to life, align with what is, and experience the natural sense of peace and aliveness that he calls "the joy of being".

The Joy of Being is a four-session program that explores the process of awakening to our identity beyond the limits of thought and the impact this transformation can have in the world. Speaking after a three-year teaching hiatus, Eckhart discusses:

  • Working with whatever conditions arise as your guide for the continuing practice of presence
  • Using the inner body and sense perception as anchors to the now
  • Freedom from suffering - the spiritual seeker's best motive
  • The practice of "being the space" for the situations and circumstances you often find difficult

"The joy of being is derived not from something that happens or from some object but from the essence of who you are," teaches Eckhart. "To know yourself as that is joy." The Joy of Being points to a revolutionary phase in human development where thinking is no longer the dominant aspect of our lives, and unconditioned awareness expresses itself through and as each one of us.

On my way home

I never get tired of listening to Eckhart, the things he says I've heard lots of times, but now they seem to have for a deeper dimension.

Enlightening

This is not a typical audio book where the author reads the manuscript they have written. Rather, Eckhart made the decision to record a live event where he led a group through discovery of presence and awakening. The pauses and cleansing bells were highlights of the presentation for me.

great point but annoying kid laughing

great views on life and how to live a better life for each person. what most people have no clue about is that there is a higher being spirit in his body using him to speak to us. it is a relationship he has built off love and trust with these great beings of light. I know because I've seen it first hand with my life to have this knowledge and the work I'm starting to do myself.

Audio quality is poor but message on point.

I'd listen to anything by Eckhart and enjoy it, even this seminar. It was recorded with poor audio quality but hearing him speak so candidly was worthwhile. I recommend this.

Fabulous as always!!

I fully enjoyed this book as I have all of Eckhart’s books, especially those from his retreats. I find his voice unhurried, peaceful and serene. Having read or listened to several of his books now, some of the material is becoming repetitive, but I would expect that, as a process of understanding and learning how to become conscious. I never tire of the lessons and I love the occasional humour he throws out there. I am working very hard to be conscious of how the ego in myself and in others, drives human behaviour, impacting life and relationships. Being present, aware and conscious is not an easy process for me, but I become more and more aware of it daily and I am happy with the progress. Thank you Eckhart!!!!
