Publisher's Summary

Everyone who lives at 23 Beulah Grove has a secret. If they didn't, they wouldn't be renting rooms in a dodgy old building for cash - no credit check, no lease. It's the kind of place you end up when you you've run out of other options. The six residents mostly keep to themselves, but one unbearably hot summer night, a terrible accident pushes them into an uneasy alliance. What they don't know is that one of them is a killer. He's already chosen his next victim, and he'll do anything to protect his secret.

What the critics say

"This tightly plotted story grabs readers from the opening paragraphs and will keep them up far too late at night. Highly recommended for fans of Laura Lippman, Tana French, and Gillian Flynn." ( Library Journal)

SUPERB!

I loved this book and couldn't wait to listen to it. Story was great and so were the characters. As usual, Imogen Church doesn't disappoint, delivering a first class performance.

So great!!!

I fell hard for all of the characters. It’s very dark a d a little gruesome but there is humour here too. And Imogen Church is by far my favourite narrator.

Nice try but underwhelming

The story falls flat on its face quite quickly and quickly hard.

The characters are very two dimensional, and basically every man in the story (aside from one Syrian refugee) are villains, while the women are heroic, strong and are all victims of the men in their life.

The ending is hugely anticlimactic, and leaves you regretting even starting the book.

Imogen Church’s narration is stellar, however, and makes the book bearable.

love story in a psycho story wrapped in friendship

I loved this book! totally engaging characters and you really care about them, some gruesome details are found within though so be warned you may be disturbed. I wish I could read the further adventures of the survivors though!
