Publisher's Summary

They say your first kiss should be earned.
Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky.
They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred.
Mine were broken before we left church.
They say your heart only beats for one man.
Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end.
I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit.
Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.

They say that all great love stories have a happy ending.
I, Francesca Rossi, found myself erasing and rewriting mine until the very last chapter.
One kiss.
Two men.
Three lives.
Entwined together.

And somewhere between these two men, I had to find my forever.

Cringe Worthy (For Most)

If you're looking for a story about a young inexperienced virgin woman, a domineering controlling (see:red flag) man, and a pregnancy trope, then this is for you. If you like passive female MCs, and walking red-flags of a man, then this is for you.

For everyone else, this is a hard pass. Ironically the L.J. Shen book I read prior had a trigger warning at the beginning of the book (It was way better. Thorne Princess), however I really think the sexual violence in this particular book needed the trigger warning much more. The grey SA in this book is graphic.

Why Are Women Written So Stupid?

I hate these types of books. The overall idea, I love but some of these authors are terrible at this. Evil guy manipulates stupid, ignorant, irrational, dumb female. Dumb female gets treated like crap but falls for him for no apparent reason. I have read/listened to other books with this theme but the females are more intelligent. The writing is better and the story flows much better. This book frustrated me. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

A refreshing “romance”

If you enjoy romance novels...you should definitely read/listen to this book. To be honest I’ve gotten tired of the monotony of romance novels, maybe I listened to my fair share. I began fast forwarding through most of them, listening to only some of it. This book is what and how they should be written, with a true love story and not so much about every sexual encounter and it drag on and on. I loved this book and it’s love story and I hope that if u read this comment, you trust that it will be what I say and take that chance and read/listen to it! I don’t think you will regret it!

Ok...but

The Kiss Thief wasn't terrible. It was predictable. What you think is going to happen, happens. It's your run of the mill romance story. Of you like the genre this won't really disappoint. My biggest issue was the age of the protagonist. She's 19. Her love interest is 30. As a grown up, sex scenes involving teenagers are not my thing. The author makes frequent use of the word teenager, making sure you don't forget it. I wish the description would have mentioned her age I never would have bothered. A teenager getting married and pregnant to/with a 30 year old Senator just didn't work for me. Grown men who are attracted to girls fresh out of high school are a red flag not someone I swoon over.

Worst LJ Shen book

I LOVE LJ Shen. I was so excited to see a new book from her. However, I was soon disappointed. First, I've never liked the female narrator she uses, Savannah Peachwood. It's usually worth it, but not this time. The male narrator was good. The big problem is that there is no story. Nothing happens, except droning on, with many things being repeated over and over and over. One of these things is the heroine mentioning that she misled her fiance about the fact that she's a virgin. She led him to believe she's not, and this is mentioned over and over and over, for no effect.

I have about an hour left in this, and I'm finally giving up. The sex has no chemistry, there isn't much of it, and the rest is hatred between the two main characters, which keeps coming back. They like each other for a few days, then have another misunderstanding and hate each other again. If someone really wanted to tell this story, it could be done in two hours instead of 12.

Definitely a favorite for the year!

This was my most anticipated read/listen for 2019 and it did NOT disappoint! Ingriuging, gripping and original with an overdose of angst and tension, this book turned me into a twisted ball of emotions from start to finish. If you like your romances dirty, raw, messy and unconventional, GET THIS NOW!

I want my two hours back

I kept reading this book only because I was hopeful that it would improve. It just continues to get worse. I finally threw in the towel. I am absolutely floored that there are "good" reviews for The Kiss Thief. In this day and age when women are empowered and celebrated for seeking knowledge and individualism, why is ANYONE reading misogynistic porn in a poorly written book with an unrealistic plot? This trashy book is ridiculous and degrading. I want my money back!! 😡😡

Fabulous story

This is a new to me author and I have no regrets so ever picking up this one🤓
It’s a sweet, little dark, steamy and heartbreaking story that holds my attention from the first chapter.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and good dialogues
It’s a good storyline with some suspense and things will be revealed slowly
I love the writing style, it’s poetic and the characters chemistry is coming through from first meeting.

Narrators:
They read with feelings and makes the story coming alive in my head.
Clear pronunciation is a must and they deliver

I recommend this if you want a standalone, HEA and alpha male but a women that also stands up for herself.

This author is now on my list of authors I want to read more from.

Really 3.5 Stars

Ok, first off, I love most of LJ Shens books but this book, while good, was a bit off for me. Really I felt it was ridiculously over-dramatic. At times I felt like I was listening to a Sydney Sheldon or a Daniel Steel novel. The whole plot felt dated, like it took place in the 60’s or 70’s. It was still entertaining, as I love a hate to love story as much as the next person but these characters weren’t quite 3 dimensional or well rounded. The heroin was way too Mary Sue (like a card board cutout) while the hero was a fairly good anti-hero. I hope she goes back to plots more like Dirty Headlines or Vicious.
