Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well...she isn’t. Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Ivan is an easygoing gorilla. Living at the Exit 8 Big Top Mall and Video Arcade, he has grown accustomed to humans watching him through the glass walls of his domain. He rarely misses his life in the jungle. In fact, he hardly ever thinks about it at all. Instead, Ivan thinks about TV shows he's seen and about his friends Stella, an elderly elephant, and Bob, a stray dog. But mostly Ivan thinks about art and how to capture the taste of a mango or the sound of leaves with color and a well-placed line.

Great story for boys or girls
Our whole family enjoyed this tale. There were a couple of sappy parts, but not too overdone, once you get past all the sadness of the first chapter, the rest is great. The story really draws you in and the reader did a fabulous job.

Great story. Narration was just OK.
I thought the story was compelling and I enjoyed listening to it with my preteen. The author did a great job with the story by keeping it literal and entertaining, but listening to her felt like listening to a teacher read in a classroom: somewhat interesting, but droning on at times. Would love to hear this book with a more talented narrator.

Wonderful to listen to in the car!
I love this series so far! I have to say that my favorite thing about them is the way Chris Colfer brings every character to life with his many different voices. I know I would still love them if I were reading instead of listening. There's never a dull moment. As soon as the book is over you're ready to start the next!

My Favorite
Would you consider the audio edition of The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns to be better than the print version?
Best Series ever! Both my 13yr old, 9yr old and nieces etc... love this series! heard that the movie is coming out in summer of 2017. Great job Chris- super talented author and narrator! Recommended for boys and girls of all ages!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Conner- because he is cool, funny nice and he has the power to travel into different worlds!
What does Chris Colfer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
My 9 yr old read book 1 and 2 and listen to 3 and 4 on audible. He said it made the characters some to lose, so he re-listened to book 1 and 2 on audible to get more out of the series. Their dying to hear another!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
"twisted adventure"
Any additional comments?
