The seventh instalment in the Quarry series sees our antihero completely out of the hitman game and running a quiet resort…until he accidentally bumps into an old mafia rival in the middle of a wintery nowhere. This leads to murder, kidnapping, and of course…quite a bit of romance.

The dialogue and prose is classically cringeworthy to keep in tune with MAC’s 80s style…despite being modernized for the 20th Century. And despite getting on in years, Quarry is still one BAMF. This one is fast-paced, vulgar and sexy…but the ending, while rewarding, is a little rushed and painfully obviously.

Still, a great addition to the pulp franchise we know and love. As expected, Stefan Rudnicki does a masterful job of narration for Audible.

A perfect package of jaded hit man, damsel in distress, and more twists than a Chubby Checker marathon. Stefan Rudnicki, as always, gives a fantastic performance and brings each character their own unique nuance. I’m looking forward to hearing more in the series.
