About this listen
A woman disappears into the dark city night....
Gen is on the verge of a divorce from her cheating husband. When her sister, Meg, has a convention to attend in the Big Apple, she invites Gen along to celebrate her newly found freedom. But the perfect sisters’ getaway quickly goes awry when a tipsy Gen defiantly throws her wedding ring off the hotel room’s balcony. Then, wanting some fresh air, she decides to take a late-evening walk alone and vanishes without a trace.
The investigation that follows uncovers secrets - and betrayals - between sisters and spouses that will twist the truth in on itself until nothing is clear.
What really happened to Gen and who, besides Meg, was the last to see her?

Years later, Jack is a grown man with problems of his own. He’s a talented but struggling author, barely scraping by on the royalties from his moderately successful first book. Story
True crime writer Wylie Lark doesn’t mind being snowed in at the isolated farmhouse where she’s retreated to write her new book. A cozy fire, complete silence. It would be perfect, if not for the fact that decades earlier, at this very house, two people were murdered in cold blood and a girl disappeared without a trace.

Story
One weekend, while Andrew Mason was on a fishing trip, his wife, Brie, vanished without a trace. Most everyone assumed Andy had got away with murder—it’s always the husband, isn’t it?—but the police could never build a strong case against him. For a while, Andy hit rock bottom—he drank too much to numb the pain, was abandoned by all his friends save one, nearly lost his business, and became a pariah in the place he once called home.

Plot twists
Anti climatic ending since you could predict the outcome the last few chapters. The narration was good. No whispering or sounding like a robot.

Could Not Finish This
We talk about Metaverse with comics where there are crossovers.
This is that for crime and romance.
A main character is a fictional famous romance writer and this story unfolds written like that, but with crime and several heavy handed plot twists.
Also, any character, in the book, gets some bad news and they start barfing, clinging both sides of the porcelain. My husband cheated on me I sprint for the toilet. etc.
Also bad romantic setups with characters. I like my nephew so now I am in love with my brother inlaw. I am working with a PI and cannot stray from a narrative that he does not iron his shirt but he is hot so now I am in love with him also.
If you liked 50 shades maybe you would like this. If not just steer clear. It was recommended because I read Gone Girl and Girl on the Train. This is not anything like so do not expect that.

Over dramatic dribble.
Well I did finish it...so thats good, I guess. It was over dramatic, full of clichets, predictable. Narration was WAY over the top...everything was "the most important bit of writing imaginable". I was soo glad when it ended.
