Publisher's Summary

We live in a close-knit community. Thirty houses surrounding a square of garden that is perfect for our kids. We congregate here on major holidays, each family bringing a plate and sharing food and conversation. It’s in the garden that I first met her. The woman who would worm her way into my family and piece by piece tear it apart....

I should have known something was wrong from the very beginning. She seemed perfect in so many ways: She floated through the baby shower, a warm smile on her face, chatting to strangers with ease. At first, I thought it was sweet that she offered to help me, that she made an effort to get to know us, that she brought over games and knew Luna’s favorite foods.... I had no idea that I couldn’t trust another mother....

I should have known that someone would eventually discover the secret in my marriage. Why I never believe a word my husband says - and why he shouldn’t believe me. But how could a woman I only just met be the one to find it out?

If I’d known, I’d have called the police sooner.

And maybe I’d have prevented that dreadful scene. Every neighbor peering through their curtains as the sirens wailed in our street.

I could have protected my family.

I could have stopped what happened next....

Kept me interested!

This book was entertaining. Cliche at times, especially in writing the female characters. Terrible people, all of them. Cringe, especially the female characters internal dialogue, vapid and shallow. Most were painted as insecure, immature, simpletons who only care about hot guys , having babies and looking good. What I did like was the complicated and intertwined story lines and a well executed twist ending. All and all I like the book. I wish this author wrote women better.

Secrets always have a way of coming out!

Wow! This was quite the Rollercoaster ride!

I really liked this book, and it had me guessing right up to the very end! I mean the very end!

I enjoyed the intertwining of the characters in the present and their backstories. You would think that it would be confusing how everyone connects, but Nicola did a great job laying it out for you! Each one has a secret and it's a big one.

A lot takes place in the 3.5 months that this book spans, but the pacing was great!

It just goes to show you that you may not know your neighbors as well as you think you do, and no one's life is perfect!

It was a great read, and I plan to check out more of Nicola's books!

story was abit overly dramatic for me personally. I like the 3 different voice actors for the 3 characters, was a really nice touch. the ending was good tho.

Some of the characters had terrible narration but I got past it because the storyline was great. Good twist

Gripping Thriller!!

A suspenseful novel that will keep you guessing about the secrets the neighbours are hiding about themselves and each other. As all their secrets unravel in this seemingly perfect neighbourhood, the suspenseful plotlines and thrilling twists begin. This writer definitely has talent and I enjoyed her book immensely, All three narrators did an excellent job of keeping you interested in their characters. An excellent thriller with a surprise twist at the end.

Interesting story with twists and turns

The voice of Celeste was unbelievably annoying that I almost couldn’t finish this book. Other than that, I really enjoyed the story and how there were so many twists.

Thrilling and suspenseful read. Truly brilliant writing

I enjoyed this book very much. It was brilliantly written with so much suspense and unbelievable diabolical twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed the story . This writer did an AMAZING job.
The performance by the narrator was a bit aggressive and shrieking sometimes. Very off putting. Especially portraying Frankie.
However, I tend to lower the volume and continue to the end and Im sure glad I did. It was an Amazing listen. Could not put it down. Loved the way it ended nicely with everything falling into place. The writer allow us as readers to fix the puzzle and not having to guess with a beautiful ending and not a rushed job. Loved that and the Epilogue. Another great book. I’ll look for more with this writer. Hope she chooses different narrators though. Thank you Audible Plus for including it. Great book.

Awful narrators

Who talks like this and why did they think that these narrators would appeal to anyone listening? No matter how good a book is, bad narration will ruin it. I had to stop listening.

Not really for me

Some of the narration was so shrill and the book to long and drawn out. Sorry!

Days of Our Lives

Not my type but I managed to power to the end, hoping for the story to redeem itself. The liar next door is everyone in the story. Too terrible to recommend.
