Publisher's Summary

Take three friends, add two ex-lovers and several new ones, then mix with more secrets than any of them know - and the result is a recipe for explosive rivalries and incendiary romance.

Attorney Liz Ramsey thought she had everything - a devoted partner, a challenging job, and plans for a family in the making. Unfortunately her life takes a turn, and she ends up alone and in the kind of trouble she never dreamed of. Then she bumps into - literally - young surgeon Reilly Danvers, and life gets even more complicated.

Liz's two best friends offer all the support she needs, but they have secrets of their own. Candace Lory, a high-powered commodities trader and swinging playgirl, meets her match when she hooks up with corporate attorney Parker Jones. Brenda Beal, the only member of the group who hasn't slept with every available woman, prefers to fantasize about a perfect lover, especially if she's obedient and willing to do anything Bren orders. A surprise birthday outing and a dashing, dark-eyed submissive transform Bren's fantasies into reality and her dark secrets into delicious pleasures.

A Little More of a Edge Than Usual

As a romantic kind of girl my influence in this library is obvious, I'm a real softie. However for the most part Radclyffe books have been too mushy even for me. This selection has more of an edge than any of the other six or eight books of hers I've listened to previously.
The Lonely Hearts club consists of three lesbian women who've been friends since their college days and are seemingly unable to find or maintain relationships. The chief protagonist Attorney Liz Ramsey is still in the process of getting over being dumped for a 23 year old grad student by her longtime girlfriend Julia. Julia is a nice example of a realistic heavy; she's not mean or evil she's just self-centered, self indulgent, insensitive, and blind to the feelings of others.
Brenda (Bren) is, unbeknownst to her friends, a writer of erotic fiction; she is unaware, even to herself what it is she's searching for.
Candace is the hot chick of the group as well as a Wall Street trader and the kind of player that you normally associate with a male professional athlete. She meets and spends a night with an attorney in Liz's firm; Parker Jones is another version of Candace, she's a player to whom the phrase 'long term relationship' equates to a holiday weekend. The two of them have a night that threatens to, gasp, become something more than a night of good sex.
Finally Dr. Reilly Danvers, an orthopedic surgeon who has avoided relationships since the death of her first serious lover. She and Liz begin a push/pull relationship that seems to be de riguer for all romance novels; that includes misunderstandings, miscommunication, assumptions, and a lack of communication. Though both of the two main protagonists have a too good to be true vibe they aren't the paragons depicted depicted in many of the authors works. In closing if you're a Radclyffe fan you'll love this book; if not, give it a shot anyway.

Abrupt endings are the worst

Good story I felt for the characters and was disappoint that the book just ended like a last minute thought

Where's the continuation?!

Loved this story. There was some irritation with the parts including Julia; was almost not enough to be worthy of including...but glad there wasn't more of her character truthfully. I so wish there was an epilogue or continuation to the 3 main story lines.

Maybe her best 👌

I have had the pleasure of experiencing many of Radcliffe’s novels, and to one degree or another, enjoyed all
However, I think this one may have been her best. 😊.
Combine that with the ever magnificent narration of the incomparable Abby Craden, I have to believe this may have been her best.
There are too many parallel plot lines, major characters, instances of human incite, strengths and weaknesses, hopes and fears, and so much more, that this was one of those times where I wish there was and epilogue or even a “ Lonely Hearts Club 2” to look forward to.
Just more of learning how these wonderful characters pursued the rest of their lives.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed 🤞
And of course, delivered to our ears by Ms. Craden.
Thanks to both of you for a delightful 8 hours of riveting and hot humanity for all of us to relate to.

Loved It.

I loved the characters and their stories. I laughed aloud many times. I haven't checked for a follow up story, but I would love to read about Brenda's story!

Finding A New Path.

Attorney Liz Ramsey is moving on from being dumped for a college student. Now she’s pregnant and her best friends are supporting her as they have since college. Brenda (Bren) secretly writes erotic fiction and hasn’t quite opened up to what she wants. Candace is a hot Wall Street Trader an one time only romantic woman. They support each other in everything. Liz literally runs into Dr. Reilly Danvers and knocks her flat in the hospital after seeing her doctor. Candace mets Parker Jones a lawyer in Liz”s firm. Reilly and Parker play softball and they start attending the games. As relationships grow Bren connects with a mysterious woman via her author email account. The Lonely Heart Club is on their way to complications of the heart. Another Raccylfe classic with the marvelous Abby Craden.

One of my favorites

Radcliffe and Abby Craden both on their game in this title.

Radcliffe writes women I’d like to know, a circle of friends I’d like to be part of. We should all be so lucky.
