Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life, including boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies, he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. There are some paths in your life you're never meant to take. Yet, by some twist of fate, you find yourself on the forbidden road all the same. Those are the words I stumble upon when I unearth a hidden journal that once belonged to my grandmother. A hidden journal that details a heartbreaking affair with her husband’s brother. It's a family secret I'm unprepared to deal with, especially when my own life begins to parallel hers. Sawyer Gallagher was never on my radar. The moment I met his younger brother, I was taken. Done for. Love-drunk.

Publisher's Summary
Is there really such thing as a lucky charm? The hero of Nicholas Sparks's new novel believes he's found one in the form of a photograph of a smiling woman he's never met, but who he comes to believe holds the key to his destiny. The chain of events that leads to him possessing the photograph and finding the woman pictured in it is the stuff of love stories only a master such as Sparks can write.

Narration sucked
I’m not a huge fan of sappy romance novels to begin with but this one was so corny. It was a typical Nicholas Sparks storyline. Predictable and at times downright silly. The narration was horrible and actually made this book less enjoyable. There’s something about a male narrator trying to read ‘female’ lines that makes it uncomfortable and often cringy.
It was bad. So bad.

what a lucky listen!
i'm not usually a nicholas sparks' kind of gal, simply for the fact that his books are always so predictable and seemingly not worth one of my two credits a month. so rarely do i pick his books. however, after reading some of the reviews i decided to give it a try and i was so glad i did.
this book is precious, has endearing moments between the two characters and while i had a tough time with how amazingly fast he found the woman in the picture, it was still an excellent adventure. the ending was a surprise too, something i wasn't expecting.
after reading it i ended up seeing the movie and it too was just as sweet as the book. i guess i'm a sucker for love.

For real
I never get tired of this author's books. Even though they are always about finding and or loosing love he indivualizes every story. Also the men and women in his storys seem to be real people. You don't have to be envious after listening to his storys. Your husband or wife could actualy live up to the stamdards the author sets in his characters.

reader is horrible!
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I'm not sure I can finish this! The story is ok but the reader is horrible. Listening to him try to change his voice into a woman's voice with a southern accent, or a little boy's voice .... horrible. My husband and I were laughing out loud. Totally distracting to the story!

What did you love best about The Lucky One?
I loved Logan. What a great hero. This was a great romance, with real characters and it kept me wanting more all the way through
Any additional comments?
The Narrator did well. His female voices took a little getting use to, but overall he did really well.
