Publisher's Summary
It was the happiest day of her life. Little did she know it was also the last.
When a woman's body is found in the grounds of a ruined priory, Detective Imogen Evans realises she is dealing with a serial killer - a killer whose victims appear to die in a state of bliss, eyes open, smiles forever frozen on their faces.
A few miles away, single dad Ben Hofland believes his fortunes are changing at last. Forced to move back to the sleepy village where he grew up following the breakdown of his marriage, Ben finally finds work. What's more, the bullies who have been terrorising his son, Ollie, disappear. For the first time in months, Ben feels lucky.
But he is unaware that someone is watching him and Ollie. Someone who wants nothing but happiness for Ben.
Happiness...and death.

Evil deeds
Was a little hard to follow at the end.....who was who, I’m sure if I listened to the last hour again I would get more of it. But since I am a home nurse, getting in and out of the car 10 times a day I get distracted. But I enjoy Mark Edwards books. Maybe it lets the evil part of me come out without hurting anyone. Yes. I said I was a nurse. He he he.

Another Good Story by Edwards
I like every single one of Mark Edwards’ books. I also really like the books he co-wrote with Louise Voss. These kinds of stories are what I enjoy reading most.
This story was a typical Mark Edwards novel- it keeps you on edge and wondering who the killer is. The stories can be a little bit predictable but there were some surprises in this one. The motive for the killings in this story were particularly different/unique, so that gave it some originality. Overall, the book was a good read (hard to put down).
For those who like Edwards, you will definitely enjoy this book. It’s not the best book he’s written, but it’s pretty darn good and I enjoyed it.

Good story, but not special
I listened to several Mark Edwards mystery/thrillers as well as several he coauthored with Louise Voss. Edwards should stick with his coauthored novels because they are much better.

Superb ending
story was a little disjointed. made it hard to follow. eventually the relationship among the characters becomes clear. then there is an unexpected twist. that twist made me give the story two extra stars

Good suspenseful mystery
Enjoyed another Mark Edwards novel. I had it on audio book so missed a couple of chapters in the beginning. I would suggest reading this book as I did not like the narrator AT ALL! Talked too fast and ran sentences together!
But Edwards leaves you hanging until the end as always!

Mark Edward's doesn't disappoint
A little less nuanced than his usual but a really solid read. Mark Edwards is just really good at weaving rich character development and non-cliched creep.

Twisted!
I enjoy all of Mr. Edwards books! I was sure that I knew who the killer(s) were but as usual I was wrong. This was a great read. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Another Edwards Thriller
Unusual plot with several twists. Good development of characters and builds suspense throughout. Narrator was excellent and kept action moving with excitement in voice. Some of the action almost seems unlikely till you hear of some real murders or kidnapping with similar scenarios. I have heard three different books by Edwards and I will hear many more.
