Story
For the first time, James Malory and his Anderson in-laws agree on something: It's payback time for the culprit who kidnapped James and Georgina's beloved daughter, Jack, from her American debutante party and whisked her away to the Caribbean, no matter that she escaped unscathed. James figured out who masterminded the dastardly plot and is leading a fleet of ships to the West Indies to deliver some Malory-style retribution.

Those wonderful Mallorys
It's been years since I read all of the Mallory books by Lindsey and listening to them is even more fun. Warren's story has a few twists and turns and you wonder whether or not he'll ever give in....but Amy is a wonderful character and she wins in the end.
This reader is great. She captures the personalities of all of the characters without making James and Anthony sound like old geezers.

Almost perfect!
I love this book! Amy is definitely a Mallory, and Warren is someone to fight for. Narrator has potential, but please lose the sound effects. Chuckles and giggles do not enhance, but rather annoy. Also, James sounds like a crusty old man. NOT the way he's described in the book. Tony was done pretty well, and Amy and Georgina were fine. I'll surely listen again. All the Mallory books are worth repeat "reads."

DNF due to the narrator
This is the first Mallory book I’ve tried to listen to (I read them up to this one). I recently realized they were on Audible Escape so I decided to switch.
Frankly, the narrator’s voice came across as too old. Like having “grandma” read me romance. Can’t get past it. I’ll go back to reading.
I gave the story a generic 3 stars because the app forced me to. But I don’t really know as I didn’t get far enough to share an opinion.

NARRATOR REVIEW!!
I'm writing this review in a state of total confusion! Johanna Lindsey is great as usual, But that's not what this review is about.
I usually like Laura Merlington as a narrator. But this performance seems a total aberration!!! I think I would have noticed before if every laugh sounded like Santa Claus in one form of HO HO HO or another. HA HA HA, HE HE HE, HM HM HM, .... WHAT?! I REALLY mean WHAT!
I have never heard a more blatant performance mistake, forget one so often repeated that I cringed every time I thought a laugh was coming. Even giggles ended up being a feminine Santa parrody!
What really surprised me was that I had just finished a book which was beautifully narrated by the same performer and did not hear that flaw even once. I'm sure of it, I could not of missed hearing it, it is THAT bad!!!
So.... is it just this performance? Was this a early affectation that she corrected? I'm obviously confused.
I did something I never did before.... I skipped most of the book! We all know how a HEA historical romance ends.... but this time the last 45 minutes were important as I skipped the previous few hours...( I am planning on giving up or trudging through if I ever have that urge again.)
LISTEN AT YOUR OWN RISK.

annoying
I am a big fan of JL books and the Mallory series but this one was bad. Amy is beyond annoying, she is like a modern day stalker. It is beyond unrealistic to be rejected so many times and yet remain so confident you are going to get your way. That plus the entire book hyped up all of the other characters more than the two stars of this one.
It is not the absolute worst read but it was close

Amy and Warren's story is a little over the top. Amy certainly has a lot of faith in Warren coming around to her thinking. All the manipulating made me uncomfortable and counting on changing him rather than loving and accepting him as is, is not a good way to approach a relationship.
