Spade's partner, Miles Archer, takes on the assignment, and quickly both he and the man he was shadowing are murdered. As Spade pursues the mystery of his partner's death, he is drawn into a circle of colorful characters - all of them after a legendary statuette of a falcon fashioned long ago for King Charles of Spain.
Made of gold and encrusted with jewels, the falcon is worth a fortune. Missing for centuries, it resurfaced in Paris in 1911, covered in black enamel to disguise its value, and then disappeared again until it was traced to Constantinople - and now, it would seem, to Spade's own backyard.

The story is great
The story is great. It the gentleman that reads it makes the book come alive, He is awesome, he at times sounds like Dana Andrews and when he changes his voice for other characters they are believed. He doesn’t make them tooo loud like some readers do. It is really a joy to hear this great author’s book read

Murder, Love & Lies - Amazing book

Pretty good
It was a pretty good story, well, narrated and fairly believable. I liked it. Maybe I’ll watch the movie now.

Don't waste your time
The movie of this novel is head and shoulders above this. Can't believe they were able to make such an excellent movie out of this. Bogart made the whole thing. This narration is just terrible. Voices were terrible. Do not recommend this novel. Watch the movie instead!
