Publisher's Summary
"If it is beyond your power to control, let it go."
"Do not wish that all things will go well with you, but that you will go well with all things."
"In this way, you overcome life's challenges, rather than being overcome by them."
Epictetus (c. AD 50-135) was a former Roman slave (he was also lame in one leg, and walked with a crutch) who went on to become a great teacher. His philosophy, Stoicism, was practical, not theoretical - aimed at relieving human suffering here and now.
The Manual is a collection of Epictetus' essential teachings and pithy sayings, compiled by one of his students. It is the most accessible and actionable guide to Stoic philosophy, as relevant today as it was in the Roman Empire.
This new edition, published by Ancient Renewal, is rendered in contemporary English by Sam Torode.

Best book to live by.
This is a manual not a treatise. A booklet not a tome.
Simple rules to follow daily. You can understand it in an afternoon but it will take a lifetime to live it.
Really the most concise yet thorough book on applying the highest principles to your life.
If you want to learn this is not for you. But if you want distilled wisdom that you can use as a guide this very much IS for you.
A true path to individual honor and integrity.

Epic book. Absolutely epic
Short, and to the point. This should be required reading for High School and again in college. If actually realized, we could change this world we live in.

More than amazing
This book is able to concisely talk about personal and society'll things and concepts that should have been talked about at a younger age. And is like having a wise person talking about there life knowledge having experienced and learned it all. And while this book is only 40 mintues about it is a power punch of things you need to hear. 100000% recommend. thank you.

Excellent!
This rendering is all the "self-help" you will ever need. Ancient wisdom that is as applicable today as it was the day it was first spoken by Epictetus himself! I listen to this version while walking my dog. I find that every time I listen I hear something new. With each listen, I gain more perspective on what is truly in my power.
