Story
In this revolutionary audiobook, Dr. Lisa Mosconi, director of the Women's Brain Initiative at Weill Cornell Medical College, provides women with the first plan to address the unique risks of the female brain. Until now, medical research has focused on "bikini medicine", assuming that women are essentially men with breasts and tubes. Yet women are far more likely than men to suffer from anxiety, depression, migraines, brain injuries, and strokes. They are also twice as likely to end their lives suffering from Alzheimer's disease, even when their longer lifespans are taken into account.

Here, Maryon Stewart outlines something different: a wonderfully comprehensive six-week Natural Menopause Solution with steps that a woman can take immediately to feel better right away.

Growing older is a blessing. But the slow decline and the loss of functionality associated with aging has led us to treat the process like a disease. These negative effects of aging, however, are not inevitable. Rather, they’re largely the result of environmental and lifestyle factors that, when properly addressed, can be reversed through a process called Autojuvenation™.

Publisher's Summary
#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER
In her follow-up to the #1 bestseller The Vagina Bible, Dr. Jen Gunter, Canadian OB/GYN and the internet's most fearless advocate for women's health, brings us empowerment through knowledge by countering stubborn myths and misunderstandings about menopause with hard facts, real science, fascinating historical perspective, and expert advice.
The only thing predictable about menopause is its unpredictability. Factor in widespread misinformation, a lack of research, and the culture of shame around women's bodies, and it's no wonder women are unsure what to expect during the menopause transition and beyond.
Menopause is not a disease—it's a planned change, like puberty. And just like puberty, we should be educated on what's to come years in advance, rather than the current practice of leaving people on their own with bothersome symptoms and too much conflicting information. Knowing what is happening, why, and what to do about it is both empowering and reassuring.
Frank and funny, Dr. Jen debunks misogynistic attitudes and challenges the over-mystification of menopause to reveal everything you really need to know about:
* Perimenopause * Hot flashes * Sleep disruption * Sex and libido * Depression and mood changes * Skin and hair issues * Outdated therapies * Breast health * Weight and muscle mass * Health maintenance screening * And much more!
Filled with practical tips, useful information and startling insights, this essential guide will revolutionize how women experience menopause—and show them how their lives can be even better for it.
What the critics say
"Dr. Gunter has done it again, but this time with a focus on mature women. The Menopause Manifesto is the definitive guide to navigating the menopause based on science, not fiction. Between The Vagina Bible and this book, Dr. Gunter takes the mystery out of women’s health and replaces it with evidence-informed concrete recommendations. Brava!" (Dr. Lori Brotto, Canada Research Chair in Women’s Sexual Health, executive director of the Women’s Health Research Institute, and author of Better Sex Through Mindfulness)
"The Menopause Manifesto gives women the playbook to follow when discussing these matters with their doctors. This, along with The Vagina Bible, deserve a prominent place on every woman’s bookshelf. Doctors should also do themselves a favor and get their own copies.” (New York Journal of Books)
“The wise and feisty Dr. Jen Gunter has ridden in (once again) on her white horse to save the day! Read this book immediately.” (New York Times best seller Ayelet Waldman, author of A Really Good Day and Love & Treasure)

worth every minute
This is a well narrated and extremely informative book. We still talk far too little about menopause. This book is empowering, dispels myths, provides concrete helpful advice and options to consider depending on symptoms. The author also has an effective way of explaining technical information and medical study interpretations. Ideally read/listen before you start experiencing or suspecting symptoms of menopause. The book is a good reminder that it's not a disease, it's a stage of womanhood. It's all normal.

Must-read especially for those who have or had ovaries
Dr. Gunter demystifies the natural, largely clandestine process of transitioning through menopause in precise, medical detail. She demolishes popular, groundless negative messaging throughout history, and articulates the many reasons to celebrate this inevitable half-life transition for half of society.

Dr. Jen Gunter pacts so much information into this book. And there’s a lot more to menopause than just hot flashes. I had no idea that my persistent nausea was menopause related. I also have the print copy as I find myself referencing/rereading specific topics.
