À propos de cet audio

From the Hugo Award–winning and New York Times bestselling author of the Expanse, James S. A. Corey, comes the start of a monumental new space opera series.

HOW HUMANITY CAME TO THE PLANET CALLED ANJIIN IS LOST IN THE FOG OF HISTORY, BUT THAT HISTORY IS ABOUT TO END.

The Carryx—part empire, part hive—has waged wars of conquest for centuries, destroying or enslaving species across the galaxy in its conflict with an ancient and deathless enemy.

When they descend on the isolated world of Anjiin, the human population is abased, slaughtered, and put in chains. The best and brightest are abducted, taken to the Carryx world-palace to join prisoners from a thousand other species.

Dafyd Alkhor, assistant to a prestigious scientist, is captured along with his team.

Even he doesn’t suspect that his peculiar insight and skills will be the key to seeing past their captors’ terrifying agenda.

Swept up in a conflict beyond his control and vaster than his imagination, Dafyd is poised to become humanity’s champion—and its betrayer.

This is where his story begins.

“No one builds a universe like James S. A. Corey. The Mercy of Gods is wilder and weirder than you can imagine, and when it ends, all you’ll want is … more.”—John Scalzi, New York Times bestselling author

It's a James S. A. Corey book read by Jefferson May, need I say more?

Perfect

I haven't enjoyed a sci fi book as much since The Reality Dysfunction. Amazing concept, cracking characters, great story, good bit of science, and as well high stake philosophical conundrums/dilemmas (though I was enjoying the story too much to spend to much time thinking about those).

Just great!

Spoiler free

I felt that the book finished too early for my taste.
The characters are good, but I didn't get attached to any as much as I did in The Expanse.
I'll still follow the serie hoping for more developments.
Just manage your expectations.

Not to the levels of The Expanse

the beginning may be a bit slow but it pick up as its going. Narration is perfect. Can't wait for the next book.

overall great book

I'll admit, it took me a bit to get into this one. And as an audiobook, I found it a bit difficult to follow the characters sometimes, though Jefferson Mays helped a lot with that in his presentation.

But by the end, I was not disappointed. James S.A. Corey are fantastic. One thing I want to give particular praise to is that they do hard science fiction exceptionally well. The aliens are truly alien. I don't know anyone else who does such evocative and thoughtful sci-fi among writers today.

Bit of a slow start, but I'm hooked
