Secrets. Lies. Murder. Let the festivities begin…

It’s the opening night of The Manor, the newest and hottest luxury resort, and no expense, small or large, has been spared. The infinity pool sparkles; the “Manor Mule” cocktail (grapefruit, ginger, vodka, and a dash of CBD oil) is being poured with a heavy hand. Everyone is wearing linen.

But under the burning midsummer sun, darkness stirs. Old friends and enemies circulate among the guests. Just outside the Manor’s immaculately kept grounds, an ancient forest bristles with secrets. And it’s not too long before the local police are called. Turns out the past has crashed the party, with deadly results.

THE GIRLBOSS · THE HUSBAND · THE KITCHEN HELP · THE MYSTERY GUEST

Everyone’s got a secret. Everyone’s got an agenda. But not everyone will survive…The Midnight Feast

Not her best

I seem to be in the minority here but this one was just OK for me. The mystery wasn’t great and quite predictable if you pay attention. Performances were good. The paranormal aspects felt out of place and didn’t add much for me.

Incredible story

Couldn’t figure out where this one was going lots of twists and turns . Took sometime to figure out that it was past and present . It flowed nicely.

Another hit

She’s done it again. A master of mystery. Always having me guess until the end. This is my third audiobook and the narrators are always top notch.

It gets interesting in the second half

I was a bit disappointed with the first half of this book, as it was very slow, quite boring, and seemingly unnecessary. Once the storyline picked up, however, it was very eventful and had many twists and turns!

As a Canadian listener, I did find the accents of the narrators a bit challenging to understand at first, but with continued listening and a slower speed,, it did become easier to understand.

Outstanding book

This is my third book by Lucy Foley, having read The Guest List and Paris Apartment which I really liked. This one is the most thrilling to date. Individual storylines are weaved skillfully together as the plot unravels in a very unexpected and impressive resolution. I found this book particularly immersive with all the vivid descriptions that place the reader in the middle of the scene. The narrators were incredible and very well matched to each character. I think Lucy Foley is a brilliant and talented writer and look forward to reading more of her books.
