We live in a competition loving culture. We love the performance, the big win, the ticking seconds of the clock as the game comes down to the wire. We watch games and cheer, sometimes to the point of obsession, but if we really wanted to see greatness - wanted to cheer for it, see it happen, understand what made it happen - we’d spend our time watching, obsessing on, and maybe even cheering the practices instead.

Brilliantly written and read
I read this book first after having seen the author speak. I immediately bought five copies for friends and family, and hoped the audible version would be available at some point. Let me express that this book is for everyone. Those who practice and live mindfulness and those who don’t know what it is. The audible version is even better than the book. Laurie J Cameron is a career speaker. She is sincere, calming, and engaging without sounding scripted. I listen to this book over and over when I walk my dog, and it reinforces the practices for me. Having it in my phone makes the science behind mindfulness practical and accessible. Listen for yourself!

wonderful voice, real and continually useful
I read this book in hardcover and decided to listen as well. The author was clear and soothing as she re-taught me tips and action for changing my day in little ways to be overall more mindful, higher performing, and happy. Forgot how useful this book was until I was listening around the house, driving and exercising. Just like the book, you flag pages to refer back to and its awesome to be able to find that spot on audible, hit play and just listen.

Life grounding and enhancing!
I have read the hardcopy version and bought copies for many family members and friends as gifts because I loved it so much! I have seen the author speak on several occasions and have participated in a 2 day mindfulness workshop she led. I was so excited when the audio book came out with her voice! She has such a calming voice and I love being able to take her powerful lessons on the go with me to listen to in the car, while soaking in the bath, or on a walk. I have read other mindfulness books and this one is so well researched and organized and includes very personal and meaningful stories that I could relate to. When I start to find myself getting caught up in the busyness of life again, regrounding myself with a chapter of The Mindful Day is very helpful.

Laurie's voice is so calming, I would often start my meditation with listening to some of this book. Do yourself a favor and listen to this book and see what changes in your life.

Ancient and current wisdom made clear.
Some books inspire, some enlighten and still others educate. Occasionally a book can accomplish all the above. This is one of those books. The author walks us through a journey through the insight contained in religious, scientific and wisdom traditions that leaves us with clear and workable options for creating our own path toward a more peaceful and joyful way to live. This thoughtful and well-organized writing, full of practical examples and personal anecdotes has, in a very short time, had a positive impact on my life. I will definitely read this one again.
