Publisher's Summary

This honest reflection on motherhood shares a wholehearted reality check for new mothers looking to normalize the reality of parenthood amidst the funhouse mirrors of social media.

Linda Fruits brings her signature combination of hilarity and empathy to The Mom Life, emphasizing that you're not a bad mother for fondly remembering a time in your life before children, and that sometimes it's ok to feed your toddler chicken nuggets three days in a row. Equal parts sass and inclusiveness, The Mom Life explores the highs and lows of new motherhood, tackling taboo subjects like losing interest in your partner, not immediately loving your baby, and imposter syndrome.

This title will be a must-have for every new mother trying to maneuver the realities of daily life with small children. The Mom Life creates a safe space and a vital contrast to the deluge of information and picture-perfect parenthood accounts popping up across social media. Full of powerful and empowering advice for women looking to set boundaries and take care of themselves, The Mom Life is an essential gift for every new mother trying to understand her new normal.

Every mom should read it!

I. SO. LOVED. IT.

I listened to a good part of it together with my husband in the car. It felt like a cathartic processing of our last 4.5 years of parenthood together. We laughed so much, nodded our heads and I had some tears in my eyes a few times. I felt like it was good for him to listen to it too and understand me better (even if it's years later - it's still healing).

What moms are going through is most often not seen in the shadow of their role. While all the focus is on the baby, one out of two moms suffers from postnatal depletion… and most moms don’t even know! This physical and mental depletion comes from women being already maxed out and put on the back burner as they enter pregnancy… then this depletion is being compounded through making and taking care of a baby with usual little support and no specific care for postnatal recovery. And so many moms who never take care of themselves and their postnatal depletion properly end up with chronic health conditions, such as adrenal fatigue and autoimmune disorders…

Linda’s book is so important, because it’s calling out society on the reality of burn out and mom guilt and encouraging moms that taking care of themselves doesn’t mean they’re a bad mom - rather the opposite is true.

I’m recommending this book to my clients and any mom who has been putting her own well being on the back burner for far to long. Because when the mother thrives, her family does too.
