Publisher's Summary

An intriguing case for Detective-Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte begins on a calm October day in an Australian seaside town. Three men set out to sea for a day's fishing ... and do not return. Despite intensive searches, no trace of the men or their boat is found until, weeks later, a passing trawler hauls in a gruesome catch - the head of one of the missing fishermen. It is quite clear that its owner was murdered with a pistol bullet. But by whom, and why, is for Bony to find out.

Bony and the Swordfish

Napoleon Bonaparte, Bony to his friends. I am sure he would wish all decent hard working people to consider him a friend. Is a character created by Author W, Upfield. I personally count among one of the literary world's greatest detective equal to Sherlock Holmes. he is truly a lousy police man, but an accomplished investigator. A half aboriginal half white man. Able to walk that fine line of both worlds. He conducts him self with the eloquence of a nobility and patience unheard of in our fast pace world.
Based in the 1920-30's in Australia. Upfield dose truly an amazing job in describing Australian culture and geography and the diversity in between.
Peter Hosking dose a fantastic, with a voice as smooth as Morgan Freeman, job in acting out many diverse people in the cultural melting pot that was 1920 Australia. Bring all of its harshness and beauty to life.
I personally love the book because it takes our hero out of this element, the hush, where he is truly an emperor and master of all. the story throws him into the passion and depth of the sea. it will also show this great half cast, what desperation and situation can bring out the savage in a man.
If you love a good detective story, and don't mind traveling back in time a bit to another part of the worl. truly a very enjoyable experience.
