If you like the Dresden Files, well, this is basically the same tropes slightly reworked with far less skill and a way less likeable Mary Sue of a main character. Most other characters seem to only exist to fawn over the main character ( including every single attractive female), or to oppose him briefly before he humiliates them, and even then they’re direct ripoffs of character tropes seen elsewhere.

I’m not sure if the author is aware of the Bechdel test and just deliberately trying to fail it as hard as possible, or just really is that much of a misogynist. If the male daze of the Dresden Files ever bothered you even slightly, prepare yourself for a doubling or even tripling down by this series- without any actual accompanying character growth or punishment to offset or justify it.

Setting all that aside, the story itself is interesting, and the narrator is solid, although I increasingly find it difficult to separate my disdain for the main character from the performance of the actor voicing him.
