Publisher's Summary

Trapped in a dungeon. There's only one way out. Kill or be killed....

An AI calling itself Schema has assimilated Earth into its System. As a consequence, everyone gained access to status screens, power-ups, and skills. This AI turned these concepts from fiction to fact. It's easy to become intoxicated with leveling up and becoming stronger. To some, it's too good to be true, like living out a dream.

For Daniel, however, it's closer to a nightmare.

He's in a bit of a predicament. Cracks in our dimensional fabric have unleashed terrifying beasts from dark, abyssal places. Schema organizes these cracks into dungeons, giving the native species of the planet a chance to fight back.

Daniel finds himself stuck in one of these dungeons. It's time to break free, by any means necessary.

Experience the start of an action-packed LitRPG apocalypse series with nearly 15 million views on Royal Road.

MC Bruiser

I bought the book as a test since I saw a low review of it. I figured I'd give it a shot since I've been fooled by reviews like that on new books only to come back to them later and find I really enjoyed them. and luckily, that seems to be the case here.

tldr; listen until halfway before making a decision on returning it. The start doesn't do it any favors.

The start of the book(first ~4 hrs) really doesn't help promote it though since the MC did act really stupid and made some decisions I thought didn't make sense beyond plot advancement. However, it seemed like this was because it was setting him up to be the meat-head boxer(not my favorite archetype but whatever) as he stumbles about and seems to get plot lucky.

This is for a reason and is foreshadowed enough that it doesn't feel like the author's cope out of writing themselves into a corner but a planned setting. Made VERY apparent after MC defeats the first real BBEG.

The following scene after his win then sets the tone for rest of the story. With it placing more emphasis on interpersonal relations, self-control, self-identity, and what it's like to be the book cover being judged at first glance. It dives deep into the characters' emotions and their development and, just like the book itself, shows that monsters should be given a chance too.

Also, I absolutely LOVE the rune magic system. Really cool idea.

A fun read

Been following you on royal road for a few years so I’m glad you finally made it on here. Love the narrator and the content and I can’t wait for the rest of the series to come to audible

Great eldritch litrpg

Gory and mindbending with strong, well written characters. I finished in only a few days, but this is by no means a short listen.
