Publisher's Summary

There is no limit to the lies, suspicion, and secrets that can poison the perfect marriage in this twisting novel of suspense by USA Today bestselling author Kaira Rouda.

Kate Nelson had it all. A flourishing company founded with her husband, John; a happy marriage; and a daughter, Ashlyn. The picture-perfect family. Until John left for another woman. Tish is half his age. Ambitious. She’s cultivated a friendship with Ashlyn. Tish believes she’s won.

She’s wrong.

Tish Nelson has it all. Youth, influence, a life of luxury, and a new husband. But the truth is, there’s a lot of baggage. Namely, his first wife - and suspicions of his infidelity. After all, that’s how she got John. Maybe it’s time for a romantic getaway, far from his vindictive ex. If Kate plans on getting John back, Tish is one step ahead of her.

She thinks.

But what happens next is something neither Kate nor Tish saw coming. As best-laid plans come undone, there’s no telling what a woman will do in the name of love - and revenge.

The plot is fairly basic. The writing style and dialogue are amateurish. Also, the narration is terrible. The wife's southern drawl is overdone, the ex-wife sounds like a robot, and the daughter is melodramatic and overacts throughout the story.

Never ending recap

Alternating chapters between 3 main characters gives you repetitive recaps on what you just heard 2 chapters ago! Ridiculous and boring. Amazon does a good job of promoting books but certainly limit exchanges after you realize it’s more regurgitated garbage. I have 1000 books in my library but now stuck with another lemon. Buyer beware

silliness

It started out ok but then withered and died. There is so much repetition and silliness. Disappointed in this one.

Oh, what fun it could have been

The plot had all the basics of a solid domestic thriller but it failed to deliver from the mid point to the ending.

The story became nonsensical and soap opera like.
Underwhelming and disappointing.

Obvious

I can imagine this will be a lifetime movie one day, replete with over-the-top acting and obvious plot twists.

Umm, strangely written

Okay, so one second the character is speaking to another character; in the the next breath they are talking straight to the reader like we are in the book (maybe it should have been a play?) And another thing, I thought I was accidentally hitting the back button a few times because so many lines repeated almost verbatim. It was so often that I thought I was glitching on my IPad. I guess the story held my attention, but those first two observations are big pet peeves.

Grab your popcorn!

This was a fun book and overall I thought the narration was good, particularly the narrators for Tish and Kate! It was a bit easier to predict where this would go than the author’s prior books, but it’s a quick and engaging read.
