I loved this book. love story but with the scary realities that many people face and struggle with on the daily. To be honest, there were a number of parts that mirrored my thought processes. An amazingly well thought out story.

When I first started listening to this book I found it difficult and not just because of the jumbled thoughts coming from the lead character. And Arnt does a fabulous job of verbalizing the things which run through her mind. Living and caring for someone who is mentalling ill myself I understand better than some the stigmatisms and difficulties people diagnosed with mental illness suffer, how hard it is to get help and support and how life changing it can be when the right people become part of their life. This book is a story that gives hope to those who suffer with a great story to help show them the way. One person can be the life line a struggling person needs to take the first step to gain control over their life. Finding that one person in a sea of people who would rather ignore or destroy you is the hardest

There are books you enjoy… and then there are books that stay with you forever. The Not So OUTCAST by Tijan is that book for me.
I have reread this story more times than I can count. I’ve listened to the Audible version. I go back to it at least once or twice every single year, and every time it feels just as powerful as the first. It’s not just a favorite — it’s my comfort read, my reset, my “nothing else will compare right now” book.
What makes this story so special is the emotional depth. The characters feel raw, real, and beautifully flawed. You don’t just read about them — you feel them. Their struggles, their isolation, their strength, their connection — it all hits deeply. There’s something about the way Tijan writes emotion that makes you completely invested. The chemistry is intense, but it’s the vulnerability and growth that truly make this book unforgettable.
The main character’s journey especially resonates. Watching her navigate her world, stand in her truth, and slowly open up is powerful. And the romance? It’s layered, protective, emotional, and meaningful — not just surface-level attraction, but something that builds and matters.
Even knowing what happens, I still get emotional. I still feel the tension. I still fall in love with the characters all over again. That’s when you know a book is special — when it never loses its impact.
