Publisher's Summary
A "fresh, funny, and satisfying" (New York Times best-selling author Jennifer Weiner) story about the complicated bonds of sisterhood.
Twenty-nine-year-old Lindsey Rose has, for as long as she can remember, lived in the shadow of her ravishingly beautiful fraternal twin sister, Alex. Determined to get noticed, Lindsey is finally on the cusp of being named VP creative director of an elite New York advertising agency, after years of 80-plus-hour weeks, migraines, and profound loneliness. But during the course of one devastating night, Lindsey’s carefully constructed life implodes. Humiliated, she flees the glitter of Manhattan and retreats to the time warp of her parents’ Maryland home. As her sister plans her lavish wedding to her Prince Charming, Lindsey struggles to maintain her identity as the smart, responsible twin while she furtively tries to piece her career back together. But things get more complicated when a long-held family secret is unleashed that forces both sisters to reconsider who they are and who they are meant to be.

Love the author—hate the narrator
I’ve enjoyed her books, so that’s why I bought this one. But can’t stand the narrator!! Tone is annoying, character voices are annoying...can’t even listen to it for long or at night cause it gets too irritating. I’m only part way through but might just stop before it’s finished.

Wonderful Story of Sisters
I loved this book. It to me is about 2 sisters who thought each other had a perfect life and each was wrong. Unfortunately it took a tragedy to bring them together. It resonated with me because my sister and I were totally different and when I lost her at an early age, as I age, I find myself wondering what would have happened it we had just talked.

UGH - kept waiting for the story to get better
This was not worth listening to. I liked another book by this author, so I thought I’d give this a try. Maybe it was the narrator that made it so hard to get through? Wouldn’t recommend.

This was May 3rd book written by this author. I was absolutely emerged in the story. I would definitely suggest this book. It taught me to “jump” and take chances.

Ugh
The story was pretty good, but for the first time I almost stopped listening because I could not stand the narration! Wish I would have just read it!

I almost didn’t chose this one
Now I’m glad I did. It wasn’t supposed to be a mystery. It was just a good story told in detail. Other reviewers left somewhat negative reviews and that almost caused me to skip this wonderful G rated book. So from here onward, I’ll skip the reviews!

Minor spoilers.
THE OPPOSITE OF ME missed the mark for me. If not for the pitch perfect narration of Madeleine Maby, I’d probably not have finished the book.
I have a hard time putting my finger on the reasons why I didn’t like Sarah Pekkanen’s book. The pleasant quality of her writing, her word-building, strongly for a debut novel, wasn’t enough to make me like main character Lindsey.
All her life Lindsey thought she was the smart, successful fraternal twin and Alex the pretty, popular one only to discover childhood IQ tests that show her sister scored higher. The “lesson” that we’re more than the boxes others put us in would have been better shown rather than told as Lindsey develops insta-insight that actual humans take years in therapy to discover.
THE OPPOSITE OF ME is going into my archives never to be seen again.

Sad face
I was expecting more from the story, Especially about the sisters. Thought there would be a plot twist, a lesson, anything to make the time spent worthwhile. Alas, there was nothing.

Great Story About Sibling Rivalry
It was a great story about a transformation of a workaholic and her sister. They both made big changes and it was captivating. I wanted to keep listening to it.
