This reader was terrible. I do not understand when readers don’t consult with authors about the pronunciation of characters names. She messed up so many names but by far the worst was Takata. I cringed every time she said his name.

The story itself was good. Not as good as when I read it when it first came out. There’s a vein of patriarchy in these books that really rubs me the wrong way these days.

Overall I truly enjoyed the story. Great continuation of The Hollows series. Very difficult time listening to the narrator miss pronounce all of the names. However I do not blame the narrator I blame the editors for not catching this before the book was released on Audible‘s.

Great story bad narration

Alot of people have commented on how awful the narration is. I would still say it's understated. The narrator mispronounces leyline as leeline the entire novel and it is far from the only blunder, including the names of multiple characters that you will hear over and over. Obviously she was given no direction or correction. it is insufferable.

I'm on a nostalgia "reread" and I remember the first read through that I actually read this book in paper instead of listening to the audio because of how terrible it is.

Read this book or a synopsis and move on to the next, There are some important plot points in this one, for the whole of the series so skipping it completely like I attempted to on my first read after the 117th time she said lee line in like 25 minutes in won't leave you super confused, but it's an obvious gap.

There are a lot of mispronunciations, of words not open to interpretation. Painfully frustrating listen.

Excellent story. i love the Hollows series. However after 5 books with the same narrator (Marguerite Gavin), switching to another narrator for a single book through me out of the groove. I couldn't get into this book as much as the other, thinking about the narrator kept pulling me out. Like switching actors in a tv series mid season for a few episodes.

I love the Hollows series, and the story is always good, but this Narrator does an awful Jon pronouncing words (Ley=Lee). After listening to 5 books by Marguerite, it doesn't make sense that they changed the narrator for this one book. how she tones people is off putting too. nothing against the Narrator personally. She was set up by having someone else narrate everything else first. They probably should have asked her to listen to the original narators versions first.

The story was great, but the narrator sucked toe-nails.
I can appreciate that narrators change sometimes, however it was as if this new narrator had no idea how to pronounce the book specific vocabulary. Every time she said "lee-lines" instead of "lay-lines" I winced. A great deal of her mistakes could have been prevented by listening to an hour or so of one of the previous books.

I loved this book just as much as the others in this series. Rachel Morgans character is as kick ass as always. But soo disappointed in the story teller, she said so many of the names & magic words incorrectly .. it made me cringe. I'm suprised this wasn't caught before it was released. Look forward to the next book but hoping the next audio is different.

honestly, after kist, I am still heartbroken however the story and have of this novel was great. the narrator was terrible but it seems the next book is back to the original narrator so I am very happy about that! the narrator is obviously so important to audiobooks. just bare through it because the story is great and the next novel is back to normal
