Publisher's Summary
In 1847, 17-year-old Sarah wants no part of walking 2000 miles behind a wagon to Oregon, but her father leaves her no choice. She packs up her beloved quilt and heads west with her family. When her innocence is taken in one violent moment, her quilt provides her only solace as she flees into the wilderness.
One-hundred and sixty years later, 28-year-old Harper unearths Sarah’s quilt which has been passed down to Sarah’s great-granddaughter, Agnes, whose last wish was to record the story of her treasured family quilt before her memory fades completely.
The two women embark on a journey to record the quilt’s story. Throughout the intertwined narratives, both Sarah and Harper hold tight to the quilt as they find the courage to accept their losses and tell the truth despite the consequences honesty brings. In doing so, they both discover a resilience and inner strength they didn’t know they had.

Excellent historical fiction
Historical fiction is one of my favorites to read. I absolutely loved this book. It evokes in my minds eye the events as they occurred many years ago. Their struggles to make a new life. Intertwined is present day as Harper writes the Story of Sara as told by her great grandmother Agnes. A must read
