Orphaned by Monsters. Matt must power up to save others from the same fate.

Matt plans to delve the rifts responsible for the monsters that destroyed his city and murdered his parents. But his dreams are crushed when his Tier 1 Talent is rated as detrimental and no guild or group will take him.

Working at a nearby inn, he meets a mysterious and powerful couple. They give him a chance to join the Path of Ascension, an empire-wide race to ascend the Tiers and become living legends.

With their recommendation and a stolen Skill, Matt begins his journey to the peak of power. Maybe then, he can get vengeance he seeks....

Experience the start of an action-packed fantasy adventure that blends everything you love about LitRPG with Xianxia. With five million views on Royal Road, this hit web serial is new and improved and now available.

About the series: This is a mix between LitRPG and Xianxia. It's like a car that looks like a LitRPG with dungeons and skills, but the interior and engine are all Xianxia. It features a magic system and progression system that are logically and internally consistent, as well as realistic fight scenes and a rational MC.

well written, I enjoyed that they had to work for there rewards(in the sense that the skill store was not just available in there head) The world building is well done. not info dumpy.

1) The book itself is quite good and I have enjoyed it.

2) it almost made me want to quit…I have no idea what happened but when the MC meets some friends everyone starts yelling when talking out loud. It is the most grating development in the narration so far. What an odd narration choice but there it is.

What’s funny is Linda yells everything she says out loud and by chapter 9 sounds like Shorsey from Letter Kenny 😂 I was dying at that point.

I’ve had to calmly pause the audio a few times now after being irritated with this “Dora The Explorer” like yelling of the lines. It’s so over the top and unnatural that I want to quit the book. However the book itself is quite good. It seems maybe more YA oriented but it seems like a compelling weak to strong progression so far. We shall see. The author has done well. The narrator needs to settle down though, people don’t talk like that, it wears you down…

Around chapter 5’ish the narrator starts yelling every line that is said out loud…

It was the perfect blend of skills and cultivation! Can’t wait to get on to the next book!

Love it!

fun story. typical ascension stuff but the story keeps it fun. The hard part was the delivery of the performer. It felt like the gaps in sentences were too long. Not gaps in-between sentences but each one itself, almost as if there were periods inside each sentence. They would also yell when conversing but was perfectly fine when internal monologuing. I think they did all the voices really well but those were just the things that bugged me enough to give it a lower performance rating.

interesting story, awkward delivery
