Publisher's Summary

Ryan "Quicksave" Romano is an eccentric adventurer with a strange power: he can create a save-point in time and redo his life whenever he dies.

Arriving in New Rome, the glitzy capital of sin of a rebuilding Europe, he finds the city torn between mega-corporations, sponsored heroes, super-powered criminals, and true monsters. It's a time of chaos, where potions can grant the power to rule the world and dangers lurk everywhere.

Ryan sees many different routes, and from Hero to Villain, he has to try them all. Only then will he achieve his perfect ending...no matter how many loops it takes.

Very Deadpool-esque

50% Deadpool, 30% Groundhog Day, 10% Fallout New Vegas, 10% Bioshock.

The protagonist is essentially Deadpool if he were 40% more sane, had 30% more empathy, and didn't break the third-wall. Instead of immortality through a healing factor and insane reflexes, he has immortality through time loops and the ability the briefly stop time.

The performance is a little stiff in the first hour, but the narrator catches their stride quickly.

Top Tier Comedy, Excellent Story, Great Narrator

The story is excellent, not half as repetitive as you might think a story about time travel might be.
The humour is top tier (Fair warning, it is dark at times).
And, of course, the narrator is stellar.

On a side note, if this gets made into a movie, the MC needs to be acted by Ryan Reynolds.

Great book and series!

In a time when a lot of similar-style series go on with no hint of stopping, this book and series have a clear plot and direction from the start. The story flows wonderfully and the main character is interesting and engaging. The narration is spot on and I found it quite easy to differentiate the characters.

The overall book was a very fun ride and there are definitely points of happiness and sadness, which creates a good balance. Highly recommend as a series!

All in all, a good story

This book was one of my favorites for 2021. It had a nice blend of character development as well as humor that made it very to get into. The repetition in the story wasn't really noticeable as it was a way to introduce characters in much more fleshed out ways to the point they became memorable.

Either way, a good read!

Good story

I liked the plot, the story is interesting, creative, and unique.

The comedy missed the mark for me most of the time. The author was obviously trying to emulate a Ryan Reynolds / Deadpool character (The MC is even named Ryan Romano). Unfortunately his dialogue makes him more like a dollar store chinese knockoff.

Some of the one liners made me want to stop listening, they seemed forced. I did laugh at some of the situational humour, seems to be where the author's strength is.

I thought the story was really well done so this gets a 4/5 from me and I'll be reading the second.

A rare gem

Easily my goto favorite listen for when I want to loose myself in a story with so many clues I missed the first time around. It's funny but I have to time travel with the protagonist and feel something like it when I finally see the hints fall into place. There is easy trap to just do the same thing over and over, but this story constantly reinvests in itself to fully flesh out the world and the amazing chars. As the story progresses, everything is shown to have a bit more meaning than was visible at first glance. Truly a wonderful bit of writing

The narrator too does a simply amazing job with the voices to make each char sound unique and distinct. A wide variety of accents, genders and even shoggoth voices!
