Publisher's Summary
When she becomes a madman's target, Eve Duncan's daughter Jane must team up with longtime love interest Seth Caleb in this suspense novel from the number one best-selling author of Smokescreen.
Forensic sculptor Eve Duncan and ex-Navy Seal Joe Quinn are about to give Seth Caleb their trust for the most important duty of his life: keeping their daughter, Jane, safe at any cost. Her talent as an artist has caught the attention of a brilliant psychopath with a violent past.
Seth, Jane's strongest ally and fiercest protector, is determined to keep her out of danger, but that becomes nearly impossible when Jane is forced to take matters into her own hands and confronts the madman who wants her for himself...and wants Seth Caleb dead.
As Jane and Seth chase down their bloodthirsty adversary, they finally commit to a life together - in the culmination of the epic love story that fans have been eagerly anticipating. As the two come face to face with danger, one thing is made clear: It will take both of them working together to confront and defeat this evil.

Worst Scottish Accents
I like Iris Johansen for a light read / listen but I’m not sure I can get past chapter 1 because of the appalling Scottish accents. They are the worst I’ve ever heard. I’m from Scotland but I’m not asking for perfect dialects, these are just so dreadful it’s hard to listen to! She is almost comically awful!

Child torture, excellent narrator
I have read all of the Eve Duncan and Jane McGuire books, but I think I am done. Although the narrator was excellent, she couldn’t make up for the child torture and blood. I dragged myself through the book because I cared what happened with Jane and Seth. Lisa didn’t seem to have any personality except to please Seth, despite the places she had been and full life she’s lead. I guessed what was coming at the climax of the story.

Not the best Story line
Not the best Eve Duncan book. The son is a brat begging to do things he can't and gets in the way. Joe is always hurt or late to the action. It could be the voice reading the book but I didn't like this story line.

Twist and turns totally fun and intense
The family all have their jobs . Changes in Michael opened to all. Like that familiar characters that interact and grow with trust more and more with all Iris Johansens books

Seth and Jane together
I liked that Seth and Jane finally get to work on the same side. I didn't like what happened to the child, though. A lot of graphic detail. Elizabeth Rodgers did a great narration.

Jane and Caleb
Although I loved this storyline as much as all of the previous books in the Eve Duncan series, the teller grated my nerves when she read Michael's voice- always whiny! I just can't see Iris intending to have a spoiled and whiny little boy. As for Jane and Caleb I really loved how their relationship progressed- passionate, determined, and protective with both characters to each other. I can't wait to read The Bullet, which I'm starting now. Thank you Iris!!!

TOUGH READ
16 hours of my life I’ll never get back. Probably could have told the story in half that time. The push and pull of the relationship between Caleb and Jane was exhausting. I found Lisa and Michaels characters a little whiny. The narration was hard to hear. Frankly, might have liked it better with a different narrator.

Eve Duncan series
I read the eve stories for so many years, but it’s tough to wait for a few years. Just got busy and didn’t read as much so when I got back I was about seven books behind. I have one more book because every and all of them consecutively what a great story, every book had my interest of course not every minute but if you know the characters from the beginning, do you understand so anybody that started reading her books halfway through the series probably should go back to the beginning and start over because it’s definitely worth knowing these characters. I’m sad to say I only have one more book left, and then the series is complete and I will wait for the next.

JOE, EVE & KIDS
Have lived in Eve’s story for years. Am an avid reader and love when each book brings family and friends back so characters are familiar and warm to me. Ms Johansson keeps me spellbound start to finish and each story is an original. I especially like how dear little Bonnie has been the building block for this hope-filled courageous woman and all her tribe. And each story that builds love around the kids and the future just begs for more, more, more. TY for being one of my favorites.
