Publisher's Summary

When she becomes a madman's target, Eve Duncan's daughter Jane must team up with longtime love interest Seth Caleb in this suspense novel from the number one best-selling author of Smokescreen.

Forensic sculptor Eve Duncan and ex-Navy Seal Joe Quinn are about to give Seth Caleb their trust for the most important duty of his life: keeping their daughter, Jane, safe at any cost. Her talent as an artist has caught the attention of a brilliant psychopath with a violent past.

Seth, Jane's strongest ally and fiercest protector, is determined to keep her out of danger, but that becomes nearly impossible when Jane is forced to take matters into her own hands and confronts the madman who wants her for himself...and wants Seth Caleb dead.

As Jane and Seth chase down their bloodthirsty adversary, they finally commit to a life together - in the culmination of the epic love story that fans have been eagerly anticipating. As the two come face to face with danger, one thing is made clear: It will take both of them working together to confront and defeat this evil.

Worst Scottish Accents

I like Iris Johansen for a light read / listen but I’m not sure I can get past chapter 1 because of the appalling Scottish accents. They are the worst I’ve ever heard. I’m from Scotland but I’m not asking for perfect dialects, these are just so dreadful it’s hard to listen to! She is almost comically awful!

Child torture, excellent narrator

I have read all of the Eve Duncan and Jane McGuire books, but I think I am done. Although the narrator was excellent, she couldn’t make up for the child torture and blood. I dragged myself through the book because I cared what happened with Jane and Seth. Lisa didn’t seem to have any personality except to please Seth, despite the places she had been and full life she’s lead. I guessed what was coming at the climax of the story.

Twist and turns totally fun and intense

The family all have their jobs . Changes in Michael opened to all. Like that familiar characters that interact and grow with trust more and more with all Iris Johansens books

Seth and Jane together

I liked that Seth and Jane finally get to work on the same side. I didn't like what happened to the child, though. A lot of graphic detail. Elizabeth Rodgers did a great narration.

2nd time

This is my second time to read or listen to this book. I love Johansson books. I keep hoping I haven’t missed an Eve book with Jane and Caleb still connected to Michael & Joe. Their mysteries are always surprising. This I love

Another great Seth Caleb story!

I struggled in the beginning to get my head around the crappy Scottish accent given to an Italian Seth Caleb, but after I got used to the idea that maybe it was because of his time spent with McDuff when he was younger, I let that irritation go. The story had the typical Johansen internal struggles that are ridiculous in their repetition in every book, but it was a great ending.

Not the best Story line

Not the best Eve Duncan book. The son is a brat begging to do things he can't and gets in the way. Joe is always hurt or late to the action. It could be the voice reading the book but I didn't like this story line.

Finally

At last. After years of this author perfecting the beautiful, intelligent, resourceful, talented heroine only to ruin it by making her turn into a bratty, whiney female unable to experience love and intimacy with an equally string hero because of FEAR, the author finally lets Jane understand the loving Caleb does not make her weak . Yes , she is strong enough to love him and not lose herself. Hallelujah. Can we hope for the same for Kendra and Adam or Catherine and Cameron? Please write more in those two series so that we can see them capable of both loving and being strong
