This is actually a very good book
When I first started listening, I thought it might be another of those books that might have lots of good information but that the knowledge was simply from the author’s research. Not so with this book. The writer has both first hand knowledge and experience; she understands the deeper meaning and she is also very good at knowing the often common reactions to these ideas from real life people. It’s one thing to even think a philosophy is worthy of our attention but living it in real life seems to ask too much of us. There were a few points in the book where I had to put it down for a couple of days because I thought I could never live up to these ideals. But I wanted to see what was coming next in the story and I know, like meditation and good health, thinking about ideas and taking steps towards good health we one day see that we are reacting to our life according to the new ideas or that our blood pressure is lower and we are less out of breath. Akemi Tanaka has a maturity that only comes with experience in life and seeing how these concepts she had learned in the past have bloomed in her life. I think I will listen to this book again and look for the balance in my life.
