Publisher's Summary
The White House is the home of the president of the United States, the most guarded, monitored, closely watched person in the world. So how could a US president vanish without a trace? And why would he choose to do so?
An unprecedented collaboration between President Bill Clinton and the world's best-selling novelist, James Patterson, The President Is Missing is a breathtaking story from the pinnacle of power. Full of what it truly feels like to be the person in the Oval Office - the mind-boggling pressure, the heartbreaking decisions, the exhilarating opportunities, the soul-wrenching power - this is the thriller of the decade, confronting the darkest threats that face the world today, with the highest stakes conceivable.

Not a bad story but
In my opinion the narration was not good. His voice was dry, raspy and harsh. Not at all pleasant to listen to

Accents are awful!
I can not even finish this book. The accents are awful and way too many of them. The story is weak and there are none of the "inside" perspectives promised by the co-author in interviews. Disappointed.

not the best, but i still couldn't put it down
first off, i liked it, this review is mostly negatives but they are individual issues, as a whole it was an enjoyable story. First off this is not the story I thought it was. The title, and tagline suggest it is a search for the missing president, the president is instead the protagonist and narrator. The Big Problem was credible, and political thrillers can be forgiven if they over simplify and exaggerate the threat at times. But the plot felt like a series of red herrings. So that the resolution felt a little flat. The payoff was barely earned, with a deus ex machina to reward the heroes' noble but ultimately fruitless labor. The character of the president feels like the most basic power fantasy, he never makes a real mistake, he has all the answers all the time and has Sherlock level deductuve power. Even his illness, an attempt to give him a flaw, fails to matter at all to the plot. The assassin is a stock lady assassin with her super human killer skills, stoic cynical personality, and sympathetic sob story motives. A bit disappointing and no climactic showdown, perhaps innovative? Or realistic? but felt narratively empty. But it was an interesting glimpse into the mind of a president, especially one so dramatically remembered. The speech at the end is an odd touch, but like other political thrillers the author is permitted to do some moralizing and speculation. And I liked it. The next president should hire Patterson as a speech writer (or maybe Bill) The speculation fails slightly as the book fails to address the real problem with governmental cyber security, that of attracting the top talent. waving it away as inevitable without acknowledging the root causes. I would recommend this book to fans of the genre or the President but with a nod to the weaknesses in the plot

The story was good - the performance was terrible
The only real complaint I have about this book was Dennis Quaid's voice- he should not narrate books. Very distracting and took away from the story.

Disappointing
I expected so much more. My friends from Arkansas gave me permission to quit at the mid way point... and I did.

good story, not so good reader
I liked the story. Guessed the traitor early. doubted it often, though. For me, Quaid was hard to listen to. voice too coarse, graveley. it was tense and the fake search for the let word at the end was good.

Clinton Fantasy
In the book the President is ruggedly handsome, ex macho military man and his wife died during his first term. The Prez also slips out of the White House and has a rendevous with sexy movie star. hahahhah go gett'em Bill!

Wordy
Basically, the book had an interesting and compelling plot. My suggestions would be to have women narrate the women’s dialogue. It becomes almost comical when the actor playing the president breaks into a woman’s voice. Also might suggest that the actors practice reading their parts more before recording. Many parts sounded like someone reading those lines for the very first time.
The story itself was a bit too wordy...so much description before explaining something. That got old.

A must read! Clinton & Patterson-awesome team!!
Excellent story line! The high-tech espionage and war games is in keeping with James Patterson style! You could "feel" Mr. Clinton's presence throughout the book, especially in the last chapter. As the eloquent speaker that he is, you can envision him in the presidential role portrayed in this novel. Dennis Quaid does an adequate job as narrator and Bach's narrator has a smooth, silken voice, helping you to envision a stealth ninja woman. The high degree of tension throughout the book is almost unbearable, along with the constant barking of orders, keeping it moving at a fast clip. Would make for an excellent Showtime movie! Do it again guys! Next time use Scott Brick as your narrator!
