Publisher's Summary

Dive into this fun, sexy fake fiancé romance performed by Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin!

I don't mean to just blurt it out. "Why, yes, I'm engaged!"

But once I say it to a potential client, there's only one logical thing to do - cast the role of my fake fiancé.

Easy enough. As a casting director, my job is to find the most talented players for every part, so I choose dreamy, edgy, sexy, sarcastic Reeve.

And I sign him up for one week in the role of mine.

It's not as if I'll fall for him in five nights even if we get a little cozy one night at theater. It's not as if I'll want more even after a scorching afternoon in the stacks of the New York Public Library.

I can't let myself because on Friday at midnight the curtain falls on our fake romance...

Author's note : The Pretending Plot is a reimagining of my 2013 book Pretending He's Mine, which is no longer available for sale. The Pretending Plot is a fresh new take on that fake fiancé romance, now rewritten in first person, expanded from a novella to novel length and with expanded characterizations. This new version with brand-new narration is more than 60 percent new material.

Short but sweet

This short but sweet novel was just that, short-ish and very sweet.

Joe Arden: Sexy and dreamy as usual. His male and female voices never let me down.
Vanessa Edwin: I’ve heard her before but didn’t like her in this one. It could just be I don’t like the British accent male or female. I know…WTF. It’s just me.

As for the plot. Just goes to show you a plot can change, thicken and make you crazy. Just go with it.

Don’t forget to listen to the teaser at the end.

Can’t wait to listen to the next sets in this series. Caught Up In Love.

Not to bad

This was a nice quick listen, I was doing house work and listened while I worked. It was great, and I like Lauren's work. It was a great revisit. I moved on to book two, they are stand alones but its the theme that carrys through the books so I can see the reason behind grouping them together.

Loved the narration, Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin were great!

Not the best

The story was pretty good, although not the best writing in my opinion. Some of the lines written for the man sounded more like what a woman would say, therefore not believable. I also didn't like the sound of the female narrator doing the male voice. It made me cringe.

Casting the Role of Fiancee

The Pretending Plot by Lauren Blakey – review

This is a quick, fun read. The characters are interesting and relatable. The writing is good and easy to follow. The premise is interesting and the story is ok. Watching the main characters interact was fun, as you never knew what they would do – literally.

I listened to this book on audio and enjoyed the narrators. They are easy to listen to and follow – regardless of the speed at which I listened to the story.
