I was nervous because I loved the movie so much, but it turns out that I had nothing to worry about. The perfect amount of sass and sarcasm. I love the way the author has set up the book...very clever and very fun! Definitely a book that I’ll read and listen to for years!!
I also appreciated the appropriate amount of sass from the narrator, especially because the whole set up for it was amazing.

The movie was amazing, the book fantastic!

I love the book. Read 3 times, including once with the extended ending. William Goldman already pretended the book was an abridgement of the fictional S. Morgenstern’s pretend novel. That was labeled as just the good parts. This “good parts” is about 20-30% of those good parts. And honestly, I have no idea how they chose what was supposed to be good, because many of the parts chosen were NOT the best parts of the novel, and sometimes the re-written and condensed parts just didn’t work too well.
Supposedly, unabridged versions are available somewhere, but they’re hard to find. Not sure if there is any full audio version available with the addendum to the original ending, explaining how they actually did live happily ever after.
Rob Reiner was ok as the narrator. Great actor, great director, 3rd rate narrator. Sorry, he was no Ray Porter. Better than me, but poor compared to the voice in my mind.

I always loved the Princess Bride but this is not the story I remember. It's like it's an abridged version or something - edited for modern listeners. Also as much as I love Rob Reiner he isn't a great reader. There are a lot of pauses and some repeats of words as if he got a little distracted or needed to clear his throat. As good as this book is, I suspect that it's best appreciated on paper.
