Publisher's Summary

The Problem of God is written by a skeptic who became a Christian and then a pastor, all while exploring answers to the most difficult questions raised against Christianity. Mark grew up in an atheistic home, and after his father's death, began a skeptical search for truth through exploring science, philosophy, and history, asking the big questions of life, and eventually finding answers in Christianity.

In a disarming, winsome, and persuasive way, The Problem of God responds to the top 10 questions people raise against God, and Christianity, including, among others:

  • The Problem of Science
  • The Problem of God's Existence
  • The Problem of the Bible
  • The Problem of Evil and Suffering
  • The Problem of Hell
  • The Problem of Sex
  • The Problem of Hypocrisy

Each chapter answers the specific challenge using a mix of theology, philosophy, and science on the one hand, while also using stories and anecdotes. It's apologetics for the rest of us, focused on both convincing the skeptic, and informing the Christian.

Great Insight!

I loved to here opinions from both sides of the coin and truly, the "problem with everything else" that tries to explain the unexplainable

Deeply moving and filled with GOD'S truth.

I am a Christian and have a faith that has been with me my whole life, but it has always felt some what lacking in some of belief in miracles and things since I have a sceptical heart. Though I always had a hope the Bible is true and JESUS came to save me I often have my doubts. So praise be to GOD a man took the time to search in all these different theologies and historical facts and scientific data to find the most convincing evidence to the truth and existence of GOD and JESUS his son. Mark both writes and reads like what he is saying is true, there is a passion you can feel so much so that every chance I got I was listening to this recording till the finish and now LORD willing I will do something about it and not sit by and go on the same as before.

Prepare to be challenged (in a good way)

this book does a great job to look at both sides of many of the arguments for and against Christianity. the author pulls many great examples and resources to showcase the different perspectives and walk through logical understanding based on all the evidence. it will challenge you to ask these questions as it explores them, but the author provides great responses to each question and challenge.

well worth the listen to.

Fantastic information. Addicting!

I couldn’t stop listening. Such compelling arguments. Perspectives I had never considered before. Valid statistics and information. Sound sources and advice on how to better understand the existence of God from a scientific and philosophical stance. I’ve quoted this book at least a dozen times since finishing it and recommended to many people.

challenging and provocative

The content and delivery are clear, concise, reasoned and important. Our creation is worth exploring, and the answers are out there to be found, seek and find, ask and find answers; books like this help that exploration, that natural inquisitiveness.

Very Convincing and Quite Good

Mark Clark presents a compelling and convincing understanding of the tenets of God and the Bible. Through logic, reasoning and even the empirical method he (believe it or not) lays out how believing in God is far more logical than it's oppositional beliefs. Furthermore, through his deductive ways, Clark lays the groundwork upon which we can safely know the Bible's validity, Jesus' proof of who He is and claimed to be, and what motives are found at the end for why might a person really reject the blatant truth that is within their grasp. For answers to these inquiries and more, you'll need to venture no further than this read through.

Frusteratingly circular logic

He zeroes in on minor holes and/or inconsistencies as reasons to wholly reject other beliefs systems, while charging that everything in the bible is airtight and has never been "legitimately" challenged. I say "legitimately" because he sets up weak strawmen such as "Aethiests belive that: First there was nothing, then something came from that nothing for no reason and boom! Humans appeared!? That just doesn't make sense!" (paraphrased example)

Essentially uses the "Chewbacca Defense".

Solid book

Mark has put together a very good book to help with overcoming common arguments Christians may be presented with by friends and family or anyone really. Especially now in 2023.
It’s an entertaining listen as well.

Everyone needs to read this book!!

I grew up in the church, but like many of you, I’ve had doubts in my faith and have many questions. Mark does such an amazing job of not only answering the questions we all have, but he slays the arguments and claims of religious skeptics, all while providing historical and scientific evidence to back it up. A must read for anyone & everyone, no matter where you’re at in your spiritual journey.

Loved this book!

I found this book to be a beautifully written Apologetic of the Christian faith, covering major topics many people have questions about and/or have been confronted with. This book is helpful, easy to understand and also elevates your thinking, examines and expands your world view when allowing an honest look within. I’m so excited to encourage my friends and family to read this!

What about Adam and his role in Christianity ?

Mark did not address the central question of Adam. Was Adam a real person or not? If real, how does he explain the existence of people before Adam? If not real, for what purpose did Jesus die? Who committed the first sin?

The Resurrection

Christianity all hinges on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus claims and accept His free gift of salvation. Thank you Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit.

An authority to me

I need to know. I believe. I don’t understand those who don’t. This brought forth questions I had never asked.

I encourage any skeptic of Christianity to read!

Mark Clark is one of my favorite preachers. The first time I heard him share his testimony I was so intrigued with his unique perspective, passion for scripture, and gift for teaching. This book runs head on into the questions, issues, and concerns people have with the Christian faith.

Love the skeptics point of view

A skeptics POV helps answer questions Christians have as well. I really enjoy the authors voice too!
