Publisher's Summary

For Rylan Greene and me, it was simple. Love only got us so far.

I’ve known him since we were six, long before he became the professional soccer star he is now. We’ve weaved in and out of one another’s lives as rivals, teammates, friends, and lovers. Until three years ago, when my life took a hit, and I ran back to my small Alaskan town, Lake Starlight, away from anything or anyone that could hurt me.

He’s never far from my mind, a constant pining ache in my heart, but I’ve convinced myself I’m better off. But now, my best friend announces her engagement, and that means Rylan will return home to stand as best man to her fiancé.

He’ll be back in my orbit for three whole weeks, but I can easily keep my distance. Sure, we’ll have to walk arm in arm down the aisle together, hold me close during the bridal party dance, and we’ll stand for pictures next to each other. Nothing I can’t handle.

I’m so naïve though, because he’s not in town for more than 24 hours before he knocks on my door. I should know by now that the two of us will never be finished business.

This second-chance romance spans 16 years of a true love match that proves these two will only ever belong to one another.

A Couple Destined for Each Other

I listened to the Audible version simultaneouslywhile reading. It was such an easy book to follow along with and I was able to listen even while driving. I love when narrators always read their own parts, and that's what Erin Mallon and Joe Arden did. It made the book more like a story and wasn't just read in the male or female POV.

Both Joe and Erin are amazing narrators and it was easy to imagine them as Rylan and Calista.

This is my first Piper Rayne book and they definitely delivered Heartwarming Humor with a Side of Sizzle. I don’t often read books from an author duo. I enjoyed Piper Rayne so much, and I now see that The Problem with Second Chances is the first book in the new series Lake Starlight, so I’ll be on the lookout for more humor and sizzle from Alaska.

This book really hit home for me since I love a small-town romance mixed with a second chance at love. Calista kind of tormented me while she worked at getting her head back into the game of life and stopped getting in her own way on the road to happiness. Thankfully, her family and friends who love her and know what's best for her, step in to make sure she sees it for herself before its too late. I enjoyed Rylan and Calista's story, and since this was my first book by Piper Rayne, I had no idea their love story has been in the works for years and is available to read in two previous series’, which both look amazing as well.

I love the way the book was written giving me glimpses of their past via flashback, especially since I am totally new to this couple. I was able to experience their love first hand and not just on the second time around. This was an awesome way to write for both veterans and virgins. It gives a great refresher to those who have already fallen in love with this couple and also allowed newbies, like me, to get caught up and enjoy the romance.

Rylan and Calista epitomize sexual tension and chemistry and had me flying through the pages. Their love shot fireworks into the air and totally captured my heart. I absolutely LOVE interconnected books, so if you do too, I highly recommend getting started with this author duo to keep your heart full, the laughter coming, and setting your soul on fire.

I'm totally ready for Brinley's story and can't wait for The Issue with Bad Boy Roommates.
